Is Sheila Carter still in LA or is Bold and the Beautiful headed for a Young and the Restless crossover?

Lauren Fenmore's return to The Bold and the Beautiful raises natural suspicion in the minds of devoted daytime fans. Weeks after Tracey Bregman's character crossed over from the The Young and the Restless to toast to Sheila Carters passing, she returned to Los Angeles, California, and met with Eric and Deacon.

It was natural to have Sheila's all-time nemesis cross over to B&B's world after Kimberlin Brown's legendary character was presumed dead. Doing so appeared to create a strong sense of closure because Lauren and the fans were led to believe she killed Sheila on Y&R in 2007. But why did Lauren go back to LA a short time later?

Lauren Fenmore believed she killed Sheila Carter on The Young and the Restless

Lauren's scenes with Eric, in particular, seemed to bring Kimberlin Brown's character full circle. She initially crossed over from The Young and the Restless to The Bold and the Beautiful after appearing to die in a fire in the early '90s. They commiserated about having survived the woman who can rightly be termed the greatest villain on the sister soaps.

Devoted soap fans know that a Phyllis Summers look-a-like was killed by Lauren. That person, who was played in a dual role by Michelle Stafford, was believed to be Sheila in disguise after having undergone radical plastic surgery.

That open-ended storyline was not revisited on Y&R. Instead, it took ten years to rediscover Sheila. She turned up in LA, with the characters on B&B questioning how she could be alive, as they were aware she was killed in Genoa City.

Kudos to The Bold and the Beautiful writing staff for dealing with the layers of Sheila's many lives, deaths, and revivals. Sheila claimed no knowledge of the supposed rumors of her demise and that was that. Quinn battled her during this return, with Brown's character voluntarily leaving LA in 2018, and later returning to reveal herself as John Finn Finnegan's birth mother in 2021.

Is it time for Sheila to go back to Genoa City?

Having Lauren reappear in LA so soon after she first visited was at least a purposeful plot device. Assuming Sheila reappears in LA, Lauren could cross over again and confront her.

However, Kimberlin Brown's photo appears to have been removed from B&B's opening credits. Devoted fans know various other actor's shots have remained visible for extended periods of time after their characters were no longer seen.

It makes sense to have erased Sheila's face from the daily opener because doing so reinforced the intended effect of wanting the audience to believe she was dead. But it became clear that Lauren went to LA to enlighten Sheila's grieving love.

Deacon's search for Sheila is on. His investigation into her whereabouts will naturally start in California. But Lauren is his Genoa City contact. The audience would accept him crossing over to Y&R to meet with her in Wisconsin.

Sugar was on The Young and the Restless

Deacon saw ten toes on the body of the person who was being cremated. Unless he is proven to have experienced a delusion, that exact moment will be cited as when Sean Kanan's character and the audience gained evidence that Steffy did not kill Sheila.

The above led to Deacon searching Sheila's digital records and finding a text exchanged with Sugar, who he had never heard of. But Lauren knew who that person, which is why she needed to cross over from The Young and the Restless a second time.

Lauren informed Deacon that Sugar was the warden in one of the jails where Sheila was imprisoned. They became friends. However, Janet Weber's (Sugar's real name, played by daytime veteran Robin Mattson) radical plastic surgery in 2006 was exploited by Sheila.

Brown's character used Sugar's physical transformation to make it appear that she was guilty of a crime Sheila committed. Lauren believes Sugar is still in jail and cannot be the woman Steffy killed, but Deacon is doubtful because of the ten toes he saw.

It is unusual to have numerous original Y&R characters playing out a storyline on B&B years after the fact. Of course, Deacon is an original The Bold and the Beautiful character who crossed over to The Young and the Restless and then returned. His presence at the center of this unfolding tale is vital because of the love connection he formed with Sheila.

So, Sugar became a Sheila look-alike in 2006 and then sought a confrontation with Steffy in 2024 for reasons yet to be explained. Other questions must now be asked and hopefully answered.

Is Sheila still in Los Angeles?

Lauren clarified that Sugar loathed Sheila because she was made to look exactly like her. That implies Sugar was trying to set up Sheila as a form of payback when she went to the cliff house. Her plan either went awry, and Steffy unexpectedly killed her, or Sugar was so deranged that she wanted to be killed.

However, the text exchange between Sugar and Sheila indicates that both ladies met before the fateful confrontation with Steffy. Could Sugar have rendered Sheila unconscious and taken her to Genoa City with the intention of switching places and imprisoning her?

The above makes sense, as it would reverse what Sheila did to Sugar. So, Sheila may not be in LA or have gotten to Genoa City by choice. Whatever Sugar's intentions, she may have been highly motivated to facilitate Sheila's return to Wisconsin, where Lauren lives.
