The Rookie returns tonight, Tuesday, Jan. 14, with "The Watcher," the second episode of season 7. It's filled with secrets and a much-needed Chenford pair-up. Last week, in the season premiere of "The Shot," they were slowly rebuilding their chemistry, much to the fans' approval. If the criminal action of stopping a nuke bomb didn't impress the viewers, then at least Lucy and Tim did with their respectable scenes.
With that said, season 7 of this fun and engaging police drama is off to a great start and has hooked me for the ride. I love that personal relationships and fast-paced narratives are embedded in them because there's more to police officers than just their jobs. With storylines focusing on their private lives, we get a deeper depth of the characters.

Previewing The Rookie season 7, episode 2, "The Watcher"
After months of being teased about the two new rookies, Miles and Seth, they finally make their introductions in the season premiere on Tuesday, Jan. 7th. After their first day on the job, being an LA law official isn't what they expected, or at least, that's my assumption.
But Miles and Seth might not be champion cops, for they have a few mysteries behind them that don't go unnoticed. The unusual circumstances are coming to light, thanks to Chenford's own private "investigation" of the newest recruits.
And per the synopsis for "The Watcher," that's exactly what will happen.
"The team is tasked with community policing while hunting for a local vigilante. Meanwhile, Celina’s instincts are tested, and Tim and Lucy discover secrets about the two new rookies."
Additionally, in the promo, there's a new development taking place and Celine is at the top of it.
Lastly, in the sneak peek, everyone seems to be on the high regarding the rookie training competition. Things get a bit uncomfortable when one of Lucy's coworkers addresses her breakup with Tim. She clarifies that she's over the relationship and the competition is just a friendly one.
But is she really? All arrows point that the two are on the mend to reestablish what they had before, as the storylines pinpoint a strong and obvious foreshadowing. Or maybe the writers are playing "mind games" with Chenford fans.
