The Rookie has been dropping engaging and enriching episodes and we're back with a new one tonight, Tuesday, Jan. 28, with "Darkness Falling"! Outside of the police chases and the newcomers' training, we were led into the backstories of the characters, and that's a plus as the content made them more rounded individuals.

But there were two major developments in the previous chapter. The first is the return of Nolan's wife, Bailey, who has been absent due to the actress, Jenna Dewan's maternity leave. The writers created an exemplary reason for her character's hiatus by instilling a tour of duty in the Armed Forces. It worked well, but I've a feeling that it'll be emphasized with Nolan's pursuit of her ex-husband.

The second development had the Chenford fans cheering, as the former couple had plenty of angsty scenes to keep them hooked. The chemistry between Tim and Lucy is evidently brewing to a reconciliation, despite the latter affirming that she has her sights set on her career and not romance.

We'll see about that though.

Previewing The Rookie season 7, episode 4, "Darkness Falling"

There's always going to be some stressful element occuring in the LAPD and in "Darkness Falling," it's heavy in the narratives. The new recruits, Seth and Miles, recently had secrets disclosed and neither appears to have a positive outcome. However, I will give the guys credit for their bravery when they rescued a hostage victim, despite getting into trouble for it, as their actions didn't align with the precint's protocols.

And why do I feel like Seth has ulterior motives, other than his illness? Or is the ailment just a ruse to cover up something that's far more lethal? It seems that way, given his cocky attitude and charm. Lucy must have the same feeling too, because something's not quite right about him.

Adding to the stress is the first disagreement between Nolan and Bailey over staying safe. in regards to her ex. It's a dangerous situation and both made valid points, but at the end of the night, it boils down to what will be the best resolution.

ABC released the official synopsis for "Darkness Falling," to give the audience an expectation of what's to come!

"Following his stint at the LAPD, Wesley returns to the district attorney’s office, where his past connects him to the team’s investigation. Meanwhile, Bailey and John have conflicting feelings over safety, while Lucy grows suspicious of Seth."

The network additionally dropped the dramatic promo for the episode, and just when things don't get any worse, they do.
