FBI: International answered the question of Vo’s fate, so what happened to her?
Caution: This article contains SPOILERS for FBI: International Season 4, Episode 9, “The Kill Floor”
It’s been a big wait for fans of FBI: International. The fall finale had the team hunting Greg Csonka, the mobster who killed the partner of team leader Wes Mitchell (Jesse Lee Soffer). Csonka was arrested but was broken out by his allies.
During the escape, Cameron Vo (Vinessa Videtto) was badly wounded and her condition was critical. That had the entire team ready to hunt Csonka down even if it meant crossing some lines.
The mid-season premiere had the team at the hospital with the doctors telling them Vo was in stable condition, but because of the location of the wound, the risk of a fatal infection was high. Leaving Celeste, one of the office agents, behind for updates, the rest of the team started tracking Csonka down.
The team’s hunt for Csonka in the FBI: International season 4 winter premiere
The team tracked Csonka to Paris, where he was trying to find a way to escape Europe. Raines was still affected by Vo’s condition, which is no surprise given their long friendship. He was on the phone with Amanda to tell her to find a file Vo had left behind for her family just in case the worst happened.
Raines was on the phone when he was abducted by Csonka’s men. Csonka hoped to use Raines as leverage to get himself out of the country. Thankfully, the team was able to use Csonka’s girlfriend to find his location and shut down the local airports.
That had Csonka try to kill Raines, but Raines fought him off and escaped. The team eventually hunted Csonka down and he obliged Mitchell by going for a gun, giving Mitchell the excuse to shoot him.
What happened to Vo in FBI: International?
As the team finished the case, they got a phone call from Celeste letting them know Vo was out of surgery and expected to make a full recovery.
Fans may well have been nervous about Vo given FBI: International has already seen a pretty big cast turnover. As it turned out, Vinessa Vidotto confessed to TVLine that she was as surprised as anyone at Vo’s shooting.
"It’s shocking. It’s exciting. I was intrigued, because the way I went down was worth it, because it was such a good script, it was so delicious. And it wasn’t hard to perform. There are some challenging days as an actor if the scene is difficult or whatever it may be, but those scenes that I got to do before he “kills” me/shoots me, I was like, “OK, that’s the way I want to go down. Worth it!”"
Vidoto confirmed that the next episode will jump ahead a few weeks with Cameron back in the office. She’ll still be recovering, and of course, Mitchell will want her kept out of the field for a bit. But Vo will chafe at that.
"Of course, it would be nice to see the recovery and vulnerable moments, but… Vo is also just hungry. She can’t sit around, she wants to help in any way she can. She feels like maybe she’s got to prove herself again. But maybe she’s too hard on herself?"
It’s likely that Vo will be affected by a near-death experience like this. While carrying PTSD might be too much, she may be trying to overcompensate by throwing herself back into the field too soon. She may also be a bit more reckless, which can backfire on her.
This was a great episode that also showcased the friendship between Raines and Vo with Raines concerned over her. We also got the scene where Amanda had to break the news of Vo’s condition to her family, selling the risks the FBI agents take.
Again, it’s great to see Vo survive her attack and will be back soon. While there’s likely going to be long-term effects of her ordeal, FBI: International fans can breathe easier they’re not losing yet another agent.
FBI: International Season 4 airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on CBS.
