Between the returning veterans and 2016’s impressive freshman class, we have been spoiled rotten when it comes to television this past year. New shows arrived with first seasons that opened new doors for the episodic format, and tried-and-true favorites took risks and tested their characters. What a time to be a cable/Netflix/etc. subscriber!
As Game of Thrones prepared for its big finish, This Is Us burst onto the scene and stole our hearts clean out of our chests. Meanwhile, Stranger Things intercepted the social media conversation while the girls of Broad City tackled big issues and made us laugh. This year, television offered something for every fan, becoming a veritable Good Place of binge-watching.
