The actor who plays Randall Pearson reacted in an adorably in-character way to his 2017 Emmy nomination.

Sterling K. Brown received a 2017 Emmy nomination this morning for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his performance as Randall on This Is Us. We’re extremely excited — less exciting for having to choose between him and fellow nominee Milo Ventimiglia — but we’re also extremely moved by his reaction to the nomination.

Let’s start with Sterling’s tweet. He shared this bit of what looks like fan art (anyone know the artist?) that the thoughtful actor got his hands on, showing a young Randall with Jack and William on either side of him. Everyone in the image seems to be on the verge of tears, because we’re all always on the verge of tears with this show.

In his message, he shouts out that he and his two dads are headed to the Emmys. (Checks out: Ventimiglia was nominated for Lead Actor for Jack and Ron Cephas Jones was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor for William.)

He also makes sure not to forget to mention “his sister” — that would, of course, be Chrissy Metz, nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress for Kate.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Brown also reacted with this message:

"Maaaaan, I got the best job on TV! Receiving this nomination is just the cherry on top. Thank you, Television Academy! From network to studio, cast to crew, writers, producers & directors–each and every one of you are second to none! Thank you all for making this the experience of a lifetime!Dan Fogelman…you are a cherub faced, literary assassin! I look forward to working with you for the rest of my life!Ryan, Andrew, & Amaré…you are my everything.Namaste"

Brown was nominated for — and won — an Emmy last year for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his performance as Chris Darden in The People v. O.J. Simpson. Here’s hoping for another!
