There are some fans planning on skipping the Supernatural spin-off Wayward Sisters entirely. It’s going to be worth giving a shot.

When Wayward Sisters was officially announced as the Supernatural spin-off, getting a backdoor pilot in Season 13, many fans cheered. However, there were many others who raised their eyebrows. They made it clear that they weren’t going to watch any of it, including the three episodes of Supernatural Season 13 that the spin-off would be shown in.

We don’t have a clue how good or bad this spin-off will be. Let’s not jump on the hate for it just yet. Here’s why, even if you’re not too sure about the idea just yet, you should give Wayward Sisters a chance.

It’s still going to have the Supernatural feel

One of the problems that the previous spin-off attempt had was that it included nobody from the SPN universe. Had Bloodlines had Garth, Benny, or another previously constructed character involved, there would have likely been more uptake for the spin-off. This is something Wayward Sisters has.

Sheriff Jody Mills is adored by fans (and it helps that Kim Rhodes is such an amazing actress and supporter of the SPNFamily). She is going to be the main part of the show, so it’s instantly going to feel like Supernatural. Even if that’s the only reason you give it a try, it’s a good one.

There’s the chance for female empowerment

We all have to admit that Supernatural isn’t the greatest for women. They just don’t last long. How often did you watch an episode with Jody hoping to Chuck that she wouldn’t be killed off? Far too many times! Almost every woman has died for the sake of the Winchesters.

Well, Wayward Sisters is a chance to repair the damage done. This is a show with a female lead cast and a chance to bring strong, independent women to the forefront.

We need more shows on TV about female empowerment. There just aren’t enough. Dark Matter is quite small scale and Game of Thrones is coming to an end (yes, it is a strong show for females considering the amount of women in positions of authority and power!). Doctor Who has a chance with a female Doctor, but we all know how that news went down. We need this show!

Missouri Moseley will return

Supernatural Season 13, Episode 3 kickstarts the spin-off, with the introduction of Patience. At least, that’s the idea we’re getting from the titles. Missouri Moseley is Patience’s grandmother and will show up in the episode. Even if you don’t want to give the other episodes a chance, don’t skip on this episode. You’ll get to see this awesome psychic again.

The same applies with the backdoor pilot episodes (9 and 10). They’ll include Jody at the very least, which means one of our favorites on the screen. At least give the backdoor pilot a chance before jumping on the hatred for the show!

Supernatural needs support for Season 14

There’s no guarantee that Supernatural will continue after this season. While The CW would like to see it continue, there are two factors that affect it. One of those factors is us. Even if you’re not that interested in the spin-off, at least watch the backdoor pilot for it. This will add to the ratings for the Winchester brothers to keep them on the screens.

The ratings will also affect the chances of the pilot being picked up for a full season. If a large amount of the fans don’t bother watching, The CW will get the idea that there isn’t a call for it. Show the SPNFamily your support in watching the backdoor pilot at least. If you really don’t want to watch it, tweet during the episode with the hashtags #Supernatural and #WaywardSisters. That will help to let The CW know that there are some people out there interested and supportive of the idea.
