There are certain Supernatural episodes you can always watch to keep you entertained.

Supernatural season 1 opted for the monster of the week approach. This is great when it comes to rewatching episodes, since you don’t need to remember the overall storyline in the majority of cases. The first season also has some of the best episodes for the Winchesters’ relationship and hunting as a whole.

Rewatching episodes is something many fans do, but which ones are the best to tune into for a second, third, or even millionth time? Here are seven Supernatural season 1 episodes you can watch over and over again.

More from Supernatural

#1. Skin

When you want to see creepy, put on “Skin.” The sixth episode makes it clear that the person you think you’re talking to may not really be them. We opened to Dean torturing a woman and fleeing from the cops, and all we could think was what the hell!

The show had already set up what to expect from Dean, and it wasn’t this. The episode gave us a backstory quickly and introduced the monster, making us wonder whether we’d watched the shapeshifter at the start or not. This was also an episode to delve further into Dean’s minds and his dreams of family.

#2. Pilot

Let’s be honest, the pilot is one of the best episodes ever. This is the whole reason the show was picked up for a full season. It set up the relationship and the overall storyline. Opening with the mother of two kids burning on the ceiling was a major risk (especially for the time) but it drew people in. Hands up if you just wanted to know why Mary died!

The episode also creates the dark, scary atmosphere for the rest of the season. The Woman in White is one of the most well-known spirits in mythology, making it the perfect option for the first monster. However the show took it to the extreme, adding its own flare and twist; making it clear what to expect from legends in the future.

#3. Asylum

Never ever go into an abandoned asylum. That’s something Supernatural should have taught you, especially with this episode. When the Winchesters hear of strange killings happening and being linked back to the asylum, they decide to check it out. You’ll get the creep-factor from the start, which has been a talking-factor for the show from the start.

It’s not the first introduction to violent spirits, but the best. This episode shows the power violent spirits hold and the way they can control their victims. It’s also an important Sam episode, as we learn more about what he believes and remembers, especially with everything happening to him at the moment.

#4. Something Wicked

This is one of those episodes that links back to the Winchesters’ past and is beautiful. It’s often an overlooked episode, because the monster isn’t the scariest seen in the show. However, it’s has the development for Dean that is necessary for what is to come next.

Dean also gets to right a wrong. There’s the chance to see Dean’s view of John, as the Marine sergeant who treats his son as a protector of Sam rather than a boy. Sam gets to learn more about the past that he doesn’t remember and definitely doesn’t appreciate for what it is.

#5. Devil’s Trap

When you want an episode that’s focused on the overall storyline, it has to be the Supernatural season 1 finale. This episode starts with where the previous one, “Salvation,” left off. The Winchesters need to find out where John is now that Meg and Yellow Eyes has him. They turn to Bobby Singer, who has ways to help.

During the episode, Sam learns more about the meaning of family and revenge. He starts to take Dean’s stance on the situation, which risks the lives of both brothers and their father. It also has an awesome cliffhanger that will make you want to watch the season 2 premiere again.

#6. Home

Whether you love Missouri Moseley or hate her, “Home” is an episode to watch again. The ninth episode is another that focuses a little on the overall storyline, but it’s mostly on the development for the characters. They learn that the past can always come back to haunt them.

Sam gets a vision of the people in his old home. They need to save them, but soon learn that it’s something very different to the monster that took their mom; it’s a poltergeist that is extremely strong. In the end, there’s that beautiful moment between Mary and her sons, as she sacrifices her ghostly self to protect them.

#7. Faith

The best episode of Supernatural season 1 just has to be Faith. After Dean is injured in a case, Sam searches for anything that will save his life. This episode touches on faith, God and prayer. Not everyone can be saved, but there’s that focus on believing in a higher power.

This is also an episode that advances both characters. While Dean learns more about who he is and faith over all, Sam learns the extremes that he is willing to go to save a person he loves. We learn just how far the Winchesters will go when it comes to saving a life.
