5 things to do before rewatching Supernatural Season 2

Are you getting ready to rewatch Supernatural Season 2 with SPN Hunters?

Now that SPN Hunters has gone through Supernatural Season 1, it’s time to start the second season. After initially setting up the universe and the brothers’ relationship, the second season was the point the show was able to find its footing. It delved more into lore and mythology, creating more long-term story arcs that would go well into the future.

Before you start rewatching the second season, you’ll want to prepare. These are the five things you need to do.

Get your tissues ready

Honestly, there isn’t too much you’ll need to do but getting the tissues ready is essential. You’ll have seen from the first season that there were plenty of emotional moments. The second season gets worse.

In case you’re actually watching Supernatural Season 2 for the first time, I won’t spoil too much. However, this is the season where Sam finally completely opens himself up to someone, only to be crushed yet again. It’s the season where Dean believes he’s found paradise, only for it to be snatched away from him.

Both brothers make sacrifices and difficult decisions throughout. You’ll need the tissues from the very first episode.

Be ready for surprises

When you watch an episode the first time, it’s easy to overlook some of the foreshadowing. As you prepare to rewatch the episodes, get ready for the foreshadowing to jump out at you. If you’re anything like many other fans, you’ll be shocked at the amount of pre-planning that went into this world. There are elements in Season 4 and 5 that make a hell of a lot more sense because of Season 2.

Some of the foreshadowing is minimal. Pay close attention. Never go into an episode thinking you know it all, because you really don’t!

Consider every episode throughout

There will be times you rewatch just your favorite episodes. There’s nothing wrong with that. But this time you rewatch Supernatural Season 2, consider doing it all the way through. Don’t skip episodes you didn’t enjoy the first time. You may be surprised to see there are elements you link.

By watching all the episodes again, you see them interlink properly. This is especially the case when you binge-watch, rather than one episode per week (with multiple week breaks in between). You’ll get a bigger story for the second (or millionth) watch.

Get live tweet ready

There’s a whole fandom out there to talk to. A lot of them are on Twitter. While there are a few bad eggs (as there are in all cartons) the majority of the fans are inviting, warm and friendly. They’ll love to chat with you.

Make sure you have quiet

You do not want to be disturbed while rewatching Supernatural. There is nothing worse than getting to one of the most interesting moments and having someone interrupt it. Make sure you have quiet.

If you are rewatching with others, set up rules for during the episode. Some people like to comment as they watch. If your friends are like that, encourage them to wait until the end of the episode, unless you’re happy to comment along with them, of course!
