The Magicians Season 3 is finally here and these are the moments to keep a close eye on the screen for.

It’s been a long wait, but The Magicians Season 3 is finally premiering. Tonight will see Quentin, Alice, Julia, Eliot, Margo, Penny and Kady back in action, as they try to bring back magic to the world and deal with the fairy takeover in Fillory.

With that in mind, just what can you expect from the episode? Here’s a look at the seven things you’ll want to keep an eye out for in the premiere.

More from Syfy

#1. Eliot and Margo back on track

The last season wasn’t easy for Eliot and Margo fans. We’ve watched them make difficult and disastrous decisions that almost completely ended their friendship for good. As the fairies take over Fillory, the two have no choice but to make up and get back on track.

And they do it in style. Hale Appleman already shared with Hidden Remote that he can’t wait for fans to see the two talk in code. The great news is there are subtitles, but I challenge you to figure out everything they’re saying without reading the subtitles. If you’ve watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Gossip Girl and Harry Potter you’ll get the gist without them. For now, I’ll keep it as the best episode of Buffy, but do keep your XOXO Gossip Girl on the screen throughout Eliot and Margo’s scene.

#2. Fen dealing with the loss of her child

Poor Fen. She was kidnapped, forced to give birth with just fairies around and lost her baby to those damned fairies. How is she coping with that loss (and the loss of her toes to get back to Fillory)? Well, you’ll find out at the beginning of the episode.

It will be interesting to see how far they take Fen’s storyline. Brittany Curran has a lot of potential and this season should definitely give her a lot of material to work with.

#3. How everyone deals with magic

Things aren’t looking great for the world without magic. You’ve likely seen the trailer with Professor Lipson threatening to jump off a building. She’s not the only one struggling without her abilities. The whole school is. Everyone is at a loss, especially those who have had magic or been around magic their whole lives.

Dean Fogg is one of the interesting ones. Despite the loss of magic, he still wants to teach the theory of it. Find out why he believes it’s so important during the episode.

#4. Who Julia confides in second

Julia has already confided in Quentin about her magic. The two search for ways to hopefully bring back magic for all and are sure that it’s linked to a certain Goddess from The Magicians Season 2 (my theory from the start). But Julia will tell another person in the episode.

Just who will that person be? Well, it’s someone who adores tomatoes.

#5. Why Penny is able to travel

Yes, Penny can still travel. You’ve seen that in the trailer though, right? The show doesn’t take long to explain how it’s possible and also explains exactly why he’s in a suit. Here’s a clue: the suit has something to do with that contract he signed last season.

As for the poison, find out all about how he looks so well and what’s actually happening. Is it possible to stop this cancer from spreading or will he be a goner by the end of the season?

#6. Another musical number

Are you fed up of the musical numbers yet? Hopefully not, because there’s another one. It’s not as big as “One Day More.” This of it more as a smaller scale “Shake It Off” from Season 1. This purely is a lighthearted moment, as two particular characters show that they are fun enough to get into a party with the tomato lover.

#7. The method of getting messages to other realms

With magic gone, the group should be completely split. Apart from Penny’s ability to travel, there shouldn’t be a way for each of them to communicate, but Eliot finds a way to do it. There’s a particular animal that is extremely powerful and beneficial, but can only carry small messages; so expect a lot of them! It might explain the breeding abilities…

There’s so much going on in The Magicians Season 3 premiere. Each character’s storylines are being set up, ready for them to come together to find the Seven Keys.
