In less than a few months, Avengers: Infinity War will premiere in theaters everywhere. But before we get to see the film, a prelude comic will grace our presence. And it just so happens the first issue was released this week.

As some of you may or may not know, Avengers: Infinity War will pick up shortly after the events of Captain America: Civil War. Both the Russo Brothers have given confirmation of Civil War not being over. At the same time, they’ve admitted to the plot of Civil War continuing during the following Avengers film. What that means is that we’ll most likely be privy to a small gap in between films. Of course, it’s that gap of time which is important to acknowledge.

The reason we should be focusing on said gap in time is because the prelude comic will explain what happens between the films. And, a lot takes place within.

While only one issue has been released so far, it already provides us with some new and interesting details on what takes place in Avengers: Infinity War. The most pertinent having to do with Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan).

Plot details revealed in the Infinity War Prelude comics

In the prelude comics, we learn that the scene which depicted Bucky being frozen in Captain America: Civil War wasn’t as clear-cut as it seemed. Apparently, Bucky was actually being prepared for a procedure that would remove the Hydra programming from his mind. Wakanda’s chief scientist, Shuri explains her solution to T’Challa in the first issue of the Infinity War prelude. Doing so, she boasts the level of her abilities, as well as what more can be done with the procedure.

Additionally, Issue #1 of the Infinity War prelude hints at Stark working on his newest suit of armor, the Bleeding Edge. Stark will don the armor for the first time in Avengers: Infinity War but it looks like he’ll complete it before the film’s start. Since the prelude is teasing an early showing of the Bleeding Edge, Stark might have it ready earlier than expected. He possesses one of the smartest minds on the planet and is extremely focused on protecting the world. Therefore, that motivation could be what drives Tony Stark to accelerate development of Bleeding Edge.

In any case, it would make sense for Tony Stark to have Bleeding Edge ready before the Infinity Wars begin. Unless time will be devoted to Stark creating his latest suit, we probably won’t see most of its creation. Because Avengers: Infinity War will be so crammed full of content, Stark working on a new suit of armor might not be high enough priority to make the cut. Keep in mind that a montage of Bleeding Edge’s creation could efficiently introduce the suit without using too much time.

What does a cure mean for Bucky Barnes?

As for Bucky, learning that he’ll undergo a procedure to remove the brainwashing means he could be up and running in no time. If Bucky is cured in good time, T’Challa might recruit him to help with Wakanda’s problems in Black Panther. T’Challa will be faced with several villains and Bucky’s assistance may be required. Even though T’Challa has the Dora Milaje at his side, he may need someone with Bucky’s expertise. Though, that would imply Bucky has an upcoming cameo in Black Panther.

Hopefully that is the case, because I personally want to see T’Challa team up with Bucky before they take on Thanos’ army of Outriders. Then again, a team-up between Winter Soldier and Black Panther might be hoping for too much, especially with the checkered past they share.

Black Panther premieres February 16, 2018. Avengers: Infinity War opens in theaters on May 4, 2018.
