Corporate’s latest episode, Trademarq, takes on super fracking and protesters.

Comedy Central’s scripted series, Corporate, premieres its fourth episode tonight (but is streaming now on Comedy Central online). It’s TV’s darkest comedy series yet, taking on the struggles of working for a soul-crushing corporation while delivering laughs.

“Trademarq” follows Trademarq, a mysterious man who vandalized Hampton DeVille’s headquarters because he is anti-corporations and DeVille’s recent fracking actions have anger him and “concerned” citizens. But the twist of event is hilarious!

DeVille is forced to face protesters as he walks to his building. A protester throws a mango smoothie at him, but although DeVille is shocked and appalled, a smile quickly forms. The drink now all over his suit is from a company Hampton DeVille owns. The protesters are unknowingly DeVille’s customers.

More from Comedy

"“Protesters are hypocrites. They hate corporations, but they love buying the things that corporations make with their mommy’s credit card,” Christian DeVille."

DeVille has a food truck (owned by his company, of course) stop outside the building for protesters to buy from. Because who doesn’t love overpriced food made in a truck? As DeVille puts it, “Idiots love food trucks.” I take that personally, but there’s something about food trucks that makes us forget how long we wait in line for average food.

With this idea in mind, DeVille sits down for a meeting with Trademarq and proposes the following:  “You design a line of anti-Hampton Deville products. And we handle the manufacturing and distribution.”

Not only is Trademarq’s line of products a success, but Trademarq quickly becomes a favorite at the office. Even Matt leaves Jake behind to hang out with Trademarq.

Eventually, Matt begins to realize what they have helped create, especially when Trademarq wants Matt to change the taste of his beer (because Matt makes his own brew BTW). When Matt tells Trademarq he doesn’t want to sell out, Trademarq explains that selling out is the best thing that can happen by breaking down the meaning of selling OUT:

"“A great album sells out, a great movie sells out, a great artist sells out.”"

While the first episode of Corporate delivers scenes that are way to real if you work at an office and last week’s episode is creepy enough to be an installment in Black Mirror, “Trademarq” schools us in selling out, fracking, and evil corporations.

Corporate releases new episodes every Wednesday only on Comedy Central.
