Sam gets a vision

For the first time in the second season, Sam gets a vision. He sees a man walking into a store to buy a gun and then quickly killing himself. The best way to figure out who this man is would be to see Ash. Sam remembers a logo from a bus, giving Ash everything he needs to research the events.

Sam has another request. He wants to see if there was a record of a fire in a nursery in 1983. Sure enough, Ash comes to the Winchesters with the name Andy Gallagher. Andy’s mother died in a fire in their home when he was six months old. The situation is too alike Sam’s for this to be a coincidence.

So, the Winchesters set off to Guthrie, Oklahoma. Jo wants to come along, as she wants to be a hunter, but the Winchesters won’t allow it. Dean doesn’t want to get on the wrong side of Ellen (and for good reason).

Dean gives away the Impala

It doesn’t take long for Sam and Dean to track down Andy. There’s nothing in his van to show he’s a killer, so Dean trails Andy’s van while Sam tries to stop the man who he saw in his vision. While Sam stops the initial suicide, the man walks in front of a bus and is killed.

Meanwhile, Andy stops Dean and uses mind control and the power of suggestion to convince Dean to give Andy the Impala. The Winchesters find Andy again and this time Dean has no choice but to share the true reason they are in town. Sam is shocked, but realizes that Sam is immune to Andy’s powers. That gives Sam the upper hand to get all the information he needs.

Sam is stopped in his tracks with another vision of a woman dousing herself in petrol and setting herself on fire. The events happen before the Winchesters manage to stop her.

The family link revealed

The Winchesters now learn that Andy was adopted and it was his adoptive mother who died in the fire. The woman from the gas station was his biological mother and she had twins. Ansem was the other baby, who turns out to be Andy’s friend Weber. When learning he was adopted, Ansem tracked down Andy and killed all those who helped to arrange the adoption and those important to Andy. The next on Ansem’s list is Tracy, Andy’s ex-girlfriend.

Andy and Sam confront Ansem, who then decides to make Dean shoot himself. Before Dean pulls the trigger, Andy shoots his twin brother.

Sam is distraught that all those who have special abilities have become killers so far. Ellen, who now learns the truth about Sam, also breaks the news that Ansem’s mother wasn’t killed. They can’t track all the Special Children in America, but the Yellow-Eyed Demon clearly has a bigger plan.
