Riverdale: Who was that mystery man who visited the Coopers?

Every now and then, Riverdale pulls off something legitimately surprising. This week’s episode ended with another stunner.

Betty Cooper arrived home after a very special evening with her boyfriend, Jughead, to discover that her mother and long-lost brother had found themselves in a bloody situation. A creepy looking gentleman had shown up at their door step asking for Chic and the next time we see him, he is dead on the floor with blood all around him.

All we know is that he is a former associate of Chic’s from the darker aspects of his life. Chic’s life and ‘career’ has been kept pretty shrouded in mystery. We know he makes money as a ‘camboy’ online and its been hinted that he was living in a sort of brothel situation. So is this man a former client or possibly a former pimp? It was clear that Chic was afraid of him and did not want to be seen there.

Whatever happened between his arrival and Betty’s remains to be seen, but it is safe to say that it was brief and ended violently. Also, is Betty’s mother a sociopath? Because she looked to be handling things pretty smoothly. This whole new story line only works if someone comes looking for this newly dead creep-ster, so my guess is that he is some sort of thug for a larger incoming threat. It is safe to assume that this death and the ensuing cover-up will become a major plot point.

By the looks of the preview for the next episode, it looks like Betty will be participating the in the dumping of the body and cover-up of this crime, but secrets are never kept for long on Riverdale and I’m sure someone will discover the evidence of their actions. I mean dead bodies are starting to feel pretty commonplace in this series, but still I think this is the first murder for the Cooper family.
