Crossroad Blues introduced Supernatural fans to hellhounds and demon deals. Here’s a look at the best lines from the episode.

Supernatural Season 2, Episode 8 mixed real history and lore with demons and the mysterious. The Winchesters investigated claims of black dogs and unnatural events, only to find themselves in the place Robert Johnson made his deal with a crossroads demon (at least, for the sake of the show).

There are many spectacular lines between the brothers. Their joint knowledge of lore and history came out throughout the episode and fans finally learned the full truth of John Winchester’s deal. Here’s a look at the best 10 lines from “Crossroad Blues.”

So much for our low profile. You’ve got a warrant in St. Louis, and now you’re officially in the Fed’s database.

This is just an important line for Supernatural Season 2. It was this season and the next where the brothers’ run-ins with the law started to reach a head. Dean getting into the Fed’s database could cause major problems for both of them and would certainly affect their ability to do the job. However, it is a wonder how other hunters have never seemed to have this problem.

Yeah, MySpace, what the hell is that? Seriously, is that like some sort of porn site?

One of the funniest Dean lines of Season 2 comes up in this episode. After he chats up a waitress, he gets a MySpace profile rather than a number. Sam can’t help but find it funny and then it’s even funnier when Dean questions if it’s some sort of porn site. Only Dean could come up with the idea that an old form of social media is a porn site.

Not just summon one. Crossroads are where pacts are made. These people are actually making deals with the damn thing. You know, ’cause that always ends good.

After finding the crossroad at Lloyd’s Bar, the Winchester brothers find a box with graveyard dirt, cat’s bones and more. Sure enough, someone had summoned a crossroads demon and a pact or two (or maybe a hundred over time) were made. Dean’s line is perfect. It summons his entire thoughts on crossroad demons and deals, knowing that they never end well.

So it’s just like the Robert Johnson legend, right? I mean, selling your soul at the crossroads, kind of deal?

Sam is the one to bring up the Robert Johnson legend. For the sake of the show, Dean doesn’t believe that the legend was just a legend. He’s listened to the music and believes that Johnson definitely made a pact with a demon. It’s an interesting view point considering the lore and history about Johnson.

Goofer Dust… What, you boys think you know somethin’ about somethin’ but not Goofer dust?

George Darrow certainly knows how to put the Winchesters in their place. They may know all about crossroad demons, but he makes them feel inches tall when talking about goofer dust. Interestingly enough, this would come up to play an important role in the future and now the Winchesters always make sure they have some in the trunk of the Impala.

I’m going to hell, one way or another. All I want is to finish my last painting. Day or two, I’m done. I’m just trying to hold them off ’till then. Buy a little time.

While many other people want to get out of their deals, George isn’t one of them. He knows that he’s going to Hell. The goofer dust is purely there to give him time to finish off his last painting. It’s been his life’s work and the reason he made a deal with a demon—and it was the wrong deal he points out at one point!

What’d you ask for anyway, Evan? Huh? Never need Viagra? Bowl a perfect game? What?

Dean is clearly annoyed that someone would sell their soul and he thinks of some of the most meaningless deals. It’s funny since we later learn that Crowley sold his soul to make his penis larger! However, we later learn that Evan made a selfish deal to save his wife’s life. And this brings us to the next line.

You think maybe Dad made one of these deals, huh? Hell. I’ve been thinking it

Sam brings up the topic every Supernatural fan thinks at this point. Did John sell his soul to save Dean? Both brothers certainly think that this is the case, which plays with Dean’s mind even more. It’s no wonder he’s completely against the deals, since he knows his dad is suffering somewhere for him because of one.

You did know about your dad’s deal, right? His life for yours?

And yes, this deal is later confirmed. The crossroad demon makes it very clear that John certainly sold his soul to save Dean’s life. And we see the pain across Dean’s face. It’s an iconic moment in Supernatural, but also full of pain and taunts. The crossroad demon makes it very clear that there are many more like her out there.

Evan Hudson is safe because of what Dad taught us. That’s his legacy, Dean. But we’re still here, man. So we gotta keep going, for him.

As Dean struggles to deal with the deal that John made and the loss of John’s legacy, Sam brings up a beautiful point. John’s legacy is the brothers. John passed on his skills and knowledge to the brothers and because of that they can continue to save people. They’re able to continue hunting the Yellow-Eyed Demon and get their revenge.

“Crossroad Blues” certainly played an important part in the overall Supernatural storyline. What were your favorite lines from the episodes? Why did they stand out for you? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
