There’s still no set premiere date for Supernatural Season 13 in the UK, but just why is that? What’s going on with the series?

While Supernatural is one of The Cw’s best programs, the same can’t be said in the UK. The ratings dropped too much that two networks decided to not renew the license. In between Season 8 and 9 there wasn’t a UK provider for more than a year, leading to questions about the future of the series across the Atlantic.

But it now has a provider and the series seems to be doing well (although ratings haven’t been released that we can find). The series is still going to air on Channel 4’s E4 network sometime this year, but there still isn’t a set Supernatural Season 13 UK premiere date just yet.

There’s no way to telling when the show will air!

To make matters worse, looking at previous dates makes it impossible to guess when the season will premiere. SPN Hunters has already shared a previous attempt at guessing.

More from Supernatural

The show was originally set for a January start in 2006, with ITV2 airing the pilot on Jan. 22. A year later, it moved the premiere date back to Feb. 4. But then the Season 3 premiere happened in Oct. 4, 2007, almost suggesting that there was excitement and buzz for the season.

ITV2 continued to air the fourth season, picking that up on Jan. 9, 2009. It then moved to Living TV, which changed to Sky Living shortly after due to being bought out by Sky. Except for Season 5, which aired February 2010, the rest of the seasons on Sky Living aired in the summer, suggesting poor ratings.

After Season 8, which started in July 2013, the network opted not to renew the license. It then took until Jan 2015 for E4 to pick up the series, which is where Supernatural has remained in the UK ever since. However, the network knew it needed to catch up to be more in line with the United States, so aired Season 10 straight off the back off the back of Season 9 in 2015.

Seasons 11 and 12 got April and Jan dates respectively, so even in the recent years it’s not easy to tell when Supernatural Season 13 will premiere.

All episodes available on Amazon Prime

It’s looking like the show will air on E4 sometime in spring 2018. This could be an April date, in line with Season 11’s air date. However if the network leaves it much longer, there’s not going to be much point; except for those who watch just to see reruns. The series is already available on Amazon Prime, and it’s up to date with the U.S. airings.

E4 may choose to drop the series in the future. It could be something Netflix looks at picking up, especially since The CW and Netflix already have an exclusive relationship in the U.S. The show could then air the day after on Netflix UK, just like ABC’s Once Upon a Time does. Many CW shows already air the day after on Netflix Canada, so it’s not a stretch for this to happen in the UK.
