For those of you who have been following Dragon Ball Super, you are aware that we only have a few episodes left as episode 131 is slated to be the concluding chapter of the popular anime series. We’ve witnessed the tournament between universes that has taken up a majority of the series recent plot, introducing Goku’s mastered version of Ultra-Instinct just in time for an all out war with Jiren. It will likely go into the final moments of the series, but now that Dragon Ball Super is coming to a close rather quickly, fans have been left to wonder what could come next.

Last year, there were slight rumblings of a DBS movie that would be released this December, and now Toei has confirmed the film’s existence while offering a few hints as to what we can expect from Dragon Ball in the near future. The film will be the 20th cinematic installment to the iconic franchise, with the very proud series creator Akira Toriyama revealing through Toei,

"“The Dragon Ball Super movie this time around will be the next story that takes place after the anime that’s currently on TV.The content will shed a little light on previously unexplored topics having to do with Frieza and the Saiyans, and I think it will be a very enjoyable story that serves up a long-awaited formidable opponent! With 2013’s Battle of Gods, the previous installment Resurrection ‘F’, and now this time too, I’ve been the one writing the stories. I’ve also been drawing quite a few things for them, like design illustrations. I’m actually as busy as ever, and if I wasn’t serializing anything, I’d have time to think about the anime with which I used to not have enough time to be involved.(laugh) So on that note, I very much hope you look forward to it"

Next: Dragon Ball Super will conclude in March

Dragon Ball Super has truly made a lot of fans dreams come true by bringing it back after two decades, and now with the series ending, this particular film will give people something to look forward to. I started out unsure of the direction for Dragon Ball Super because of its difference in tone from DBZ, but it has once again become an action anime staple over time and I will take Dragon Ball in any form that we are fortunate enough to receive it in.
