Criminal Minds Season 13, Episode 16 preview: One agent is getting the boot
After splitting up the team and forcing Rossi into retirement, Linda Barnes is firing a member of the team in Criminal Minds Season 13’s “Last Gasp.”
If last week’s episode wasn’t shocking enough, tonight’s may just help to tip you over the edge. Criminal Minds Season 13, Episode 16 suggests that someone is getting the boot, thanks to the meddling Linda Barnes (played by the amazing Kim Rhodes).
The BAU gang is taking on one last case. Going against direct orders, they’re all putting their careers on the line for the sake of friendship, family, and innocent victims. It looks like nobody thinks they’ll regret their decision to start, but that may change when at least one is ordered to turn over their gun and badge.

From the sound of Barnes as she speaks in the trailer, it looks like someone has ruffled her feathers. She may even be at the point where she’s struggling to hold onto authority because absolutely nobody on the team respects her. The problem is she seems to have people high up in her pocket since she was able to deliver her one-sided report in the middle of the night at the end of the last episode.

Personally, it’s hard watching Rhodes play such a mean, selfish character. She’s always going to be Supernatural’s Sheriff Jody Mills and she wouldn’t treat the BAU that way. But this is a character that has been written in a way to hate her from the get-go.
More importantly, this episode is the first Criminal Minds episode directed by Adam Rodriguez. It’s not his directorial debut, but just the first on the series. Only Matthew Gray Gubler and Joe Mantegna have come before him and it’s always fun to see what our actors can do behind the camera.
