Deadpool 2 dropped a new trailer that shows off the X-Force team.

Deadpool 2 is having a ton of fun with marketing the movie just like they did with the first one. The new trailer shows off Deadpool’s quirks, which includes him fighting in a pair of heels. However, this trailer makes the bold move of introducing us to the X-Force.

This iteration of the team that we see is much different from when they first appeared in the comics. The origin story has the team being led by Cable, but in this film, they’ll be going up against him. I don’t mind the change, though, since teams are constantly changing in the comic book world. Even the Avengers don’t always have the same team members.

More from Marvel Movies

One of the best things about Deadpool is that he rarely takes himself seriously, but he still gets the job done. In this trailer, he goes toe-to-toe with Cable and realizes he’s going to need a little help protecting the kid, whose name hasn’t been officially revealed. There are members of the X-Force whose names haven’t been revealed either.

So what does this mean for the X-Force? Fox previously had plans for a film back in 2013 when Jeff Wadlow was announced as a scriptwriter for it. There hasn’t been any real progress on the movie since. Introducing the team in Deadpool 2 gives me some hope, though. The Disney and Fox deal isn’t set to close until later this year or even next year, but either way, this movie would be an interesting one to pick back up again.

If the X-Force is received well in Deadpool 2, it could lead to a new slate of X-Men movies. In the trailer, Deadpool jokes that there might not be a third movie. If he’s right, maybe he goes off to head up the X-Force on a more permanent basis. No matter what the outcome ends up being, though, I’m just glad we get another Deadpool movie and that they’re introducing Cable. Based on how this ends, they could also opt to have Deadpool and Cable team up for a film like they’ve done in the comics.

Deadpool 2 is out on May 18, 2018 and you won’t want to miss it!
