Stella’s family lied to her. That’s no secret in Life Sentence. However, she’s only just learning about all the lies, and some of them are affecting her life now in the episode titled “How Stella Got Her Groove On.” She’ll find out about one of the important ones this week, as she pushes for a promotion at work.
Now that she’s living life, Stella wants to do well in the world of work. That means applying for the current manager position at the coffee shop. All she needs is “a good arm and a high school diploma.” That shouldn’t be too hard, right?

Well, it turns out Stella never graduated high school and she’s only just learning about it now. Her father forged her high school diploma, and it’s easy to understand why. Everyone thought she was dying and why waste time with school when you’re not going to be able to use the education anyway? Stella’s time was better spent doing the things she enjoyed; living her short life to the
fullest.

Of course, Life Sentence is all about her life now she’s cured so not having a high school diploma is a major issue. You can’t get anywhere without one.
It looks like she’s going to study for her GED at least, which could open a few doors for her later. Will we see this cured Millennial head off to college by the end of the season? For now, she needs to find out why her father lied and forged the diploma. Poor, Peter!
