The archers are making a comeback in Season 7 of Arrow. Colton Haynes is returning as a series regular, presumably alongside on-screen love interest, Thea Queen (Willa Holland).

Despite seeing Roy (Colton Haynes) depart with Thea in a recent episode of Arrow, he’ll be returning in Season 7. Not only will Roy return, but he’ll back in a permanent capacity, at least for Season 7. At the same time, Thea is more than likely going to be alongside Roy – that is if their search for the Lazarus Pits doesn’t end tragically for her.

The last time we saw Roy and Thea, they were on their way to find and destroy the three remaining Lazarus Pits. Although, it wouldn’t be as easy as neutralizing the rejuvenating springs. They’ll also have to deal with the League of Assassins’ new sect trying to resurrect the organization. Nyssa (Katrina Law) will be there to back them up but that doesn’t mean Thea or Roy won’t end up being casualties.

Since Roy (Haynes) is definitely returning in Season 7, a potential death would likely be Thea’s. Killing Thea off could ideally be used to bring Roy back to Star City, where he can convince Oliver to seek out the remaining Lazarus Pit, in hopes of bringing Thea back again. Oliver would most likely refuse because of what happened the first time, but Roy isn’t going to back down that easy. In turn, this could see Oliver and Roy go head-to-head while they debate over resurrecting Thea.

Another explanation for Roy’s return is that he’s going to replace Oliver’s former teammates. Oliver just lost his entire team and he’s going to need some backup eventually. Roy would be the best bet for that role and Oliver trusts him, so they could reunite.

Additionally, Roy’s return to Team Arrow would likely coincide with Thea’s, too. They vowed to stay together wherever their lives take them, meaning if one joins, the other will, too. Roy and Thea are also the heroes most compatible with Oliver. They’ve shown time and again that they can work together without so much inter-conflict interfering with their vigilante work. Nevertheless, it’s yet to be seen if Roy’s return will bring good tidings or bad. For all we know, Roy could go dark, making him the main antagonist of Season 7.

Arrow airs Thursdays on The CW.
