Now that Tandy’s astronaut brother Mike is back in the picture, how will this shake things up for the group? Here’s what happened this week on The Last Man on Earth.

Following a trail of his own hair, Tandy, stripped down to a goofy t-shirt and green boxer briefs, is led to the room where Karl exploded only a few months back. After finding a few humorous notes, Tandy hears music coming from outside. That music turned out to be coming from a karaoke machine in the garage, where Mike was waiting to duet with his brother once more. Singing “Falling Slowly” like the good ole days, it was a sweet reunion between the two.

Deciding to try and prank the group, Tandy, wearing fake dreads and pretending to have a toothache, goes to the breakfast room asking them to join him in welcoming back Jasper, who he says has returned. Mike then jumps out to surprise them and is immediately shot by Gail. Tandy, who is yelling and crying, soon finds out this was just another joke planned by Mike.

Next, we find the group gathered around the dining room table listening to what Mike has been up to since they last saw him. He then tells a compelling fake story about being kidnapped in Colorado. Revealing that he didn’t get the virus and must’ve just gotten sick due to having a weakened immune system from being in space, he went to Malibu looking for them. Tandy, after seeming disappointed to learn that he didn’t see the note he left him, looked proud to introduce his brother to the daughter he named after him.

After meeting Erica’s daughter, Dawn, Mike is confused to hear she had married Gail. Todd, who is still being weird due to the baby situation with Erica, doesn’t quite know how to act around Mike, and happens to overhear her saying that he is basically just a sperm donor to her.

The surprises keep on coming with Mike showing Tandy he brought along the various sports balls that he drew faces on back in Tuscon. Delighted to see them all again, Tandy is also happy to find they brought joy to Mike as well. During a tour of the high-tech truck he has been driving, Tandy finds out that Mike found Jasper, and in turn the group, using thermal detecting technology, “like how the Predator sees.”

Meeting with Gail and Melissa, Todd vocalizes his concerns about Mike showing up, worried Erica will change her mind about having a baby with him. Agreeing, Melissa thinks it would be best to just confront him. In the end, Todd decides he will do just that.

Barging in on Mike and Tandy having their fun harmonizing with each other, he goes up to him and asks his intentions with Erica. Caught off guard, Mike doesn’t understand what he’s asking. Todd, flying off the handle, demands Tandy take a side, and storms off when he refuses to do so.

Later, Mike finds his truck has been vandalized and pays Todd a visit to clear the air. Blaming a fictional street gang, Todd refuses to act like an adult toward Mike. Telling him he’s only in town to visit, Mike also suggests Todd not take his wife and those that care for him for granted, especially since he knows how hard it is to be alone.

Afterwards, Todd goes to see Erica, apologizing for not being himself and for damaging their relationship, and suggests they stop trying. While there, she takes the opportunity to reveal that she is pregnant. Overwhelmed at first, Todd is comforted by Erica, who seems really excited about the future.

Over karaoke that night, the gang celebrates the arrival of Mike and also Erica’s newfound pregnancy. After everyone goes to bed, Mike is seen going to his truck, while there he decides to check the thermal detector for any signs of life. While initially nothing was out of the ordinary, he finds one spot that’s inexplicably hot.
