David gets a little closer to finding Farouk’s body in this week’s episode of Legion. However, as usual, things don’t go quite right.

“I don’t think I want a cow in my lab.”

Legion starts off with another infomercial-esque scene. This one focuses on conversion disorder, which is shown through a set of cheerleaders getting the same involuntary movement with their shoulder. It’s a bizarre way to start off the episode since we likely won’t need to remember any of the people in the scene. But when aren’t things Bizarre when it comes to Legion?

The bizarre by no means stops there. Afterwards, we see Amahl Farouk pass out at a table and then we see and oval-shaped coffin being placed under the floor in a building full of monks. One of them looks like the same man who was in the room with the chattering teeth people in “Chapter 10.”

Cary and Kerry are still stuck in their situation where Kerry can no longer reside inside him. Kerry even needs to learn how to do things like eat food on a regular basis and go to the bathroom. It is actually a little fun moment between the two.

Blood is found on the inside of the room with the chattering teeth people. Clark goes in to inspect and they find out that one person is missing. An alarm is sounded and David starts to see the future Syd again and the letter H appears. This leads David to go back into the tank of water and this time he sees Lenny, who is still trapped. We know that Lenny is desperate, but to David her desperation just comes off as her being crazy. That scene is actually a little sad because she really seems to be suffering. Then David just ignores her once Farouk shows himself.

Farouk confirms that the escaped man in Division 3 is in fact one of the monks, so this confirms that it was the same man. He knows where Farouk’s body is, which is in that oval-shaped coffin most likely. While David and Farouk are talking, Lenny puts a gun to her head and neither of them even notice. Farouk gives David pause when he mentions that he’ll destroy the future by helping him.

When David is done with his adventure, he finds himself alone in the room and the whole place looks deserted. Upon looking around, he finds some dead bodies and more people with chattering teeth. The music that plays in the moment sounds similar to the music from Stranger Things a bit, but it works well.

In the dining area, David comes across Cary who sprays him in the face with some cleaner. We see here that David uses his powers to try to make a mental connection with the others. When they find Ptonomy, David takes Cary into his mind with him. The extent of his powers is still unclear. We know he can sense when people are present. Plus, David does find a way to wake up Ptonomy and get his teeth to stop chattering.

David sees the letter U from Syd in the future as they go look for her. While looking for her, they find Melanie instead and go into her mind. They get some instructions from giant words on a screen that isn’t really there. Her maze is much more complex than Ptonomy’s. David tries to get them out, but they meet a dead end instead. Melanie finally comes forward after a story about her dream being to be care free.

Once they are back, David sees the letter R and shortly thereafter sees another R. The children then sneak up on David and drag him away to a room with the monk and more chattering teeth people. Whatever song the monk was humming to the children really worked because they are efficient when it comes to nabbing David.

Even though this show isn’t on the gory side, we do see some gruesome moments. When David is with the monks, they show two who were hung outside the building. It’s a powerful image and we don’t even need an explanation for it to be effective.

While looking for David, Cary finds Kerry instead and he knows he can’t help her without David. You can see that it pains him to see her stuck there. However, Melanie and Ptonomy manage to find the monk. He wants the weapon to kill the monsters, but they claim that there isn’t one. The monk claims that the Shadow King can’t find Farouk’s body and Melanie says that David can destroy him.

The final letter that David sees is a Y and it spells out hurry. That wasn’t a hard one to figure out, but clearly the message is important. David’s on a timeline and he has no idea when the deadline is. David is talking to the monk and promises to destroy the body, but the monk just jumps off the roof. The final scene is David going into Syd’s maze and he finds himself in a snowstorm. That feels like a fitting end considering the current situation he finds himself in.

While Legion takes the most bizarre twists and turns, the plot is becoming more understandable as we go. The main goal is for David to find out where Farouk’s body really is. He’s just hitting a lot of bumps along the way so far.

While things are starting to become a little more clear, it feels like Legion is always going to have inexplicable moments, Or at least until the show completely wraps up. I’m hoping that Noah Hawley gets to accomplish everything he has planned for this series because I’m not sure any of it will make complete sense if he doesn’t. Although, there’s still a chance that he does everything he wants and it still could wind up not making total sense. Either way, I’m along for the ride. There’s no other show like this out there right now.

Legion airs on FX on Tuesdays at 10pm EST.
