Bob’s Burgers: Looking at Tina through the seasons
Season 5: “Can’t Buy Me Math”
Moving right along into season 5, there are a handful of Tina-centric episodes to pick from. From the Halloween episode, “Tina and the Real Ghost” to back-to-back episodes, “Tina Tailor Soldier Spy” and “Midday Run.” However, the Tina-centric Valentine’s Day episode is this season’s winner: “Can’t Buy Me Math.”

In this Valentine’s Day-themed episode, we watch Tina and Darryl fake date to get their crushes to notice them. For Darryl, it’s to get Rosa and for Tina, she gets tutoring from Darryl. Everything goes fine until Tina starts getting feelings for Darryl and eventually, admitting them. Tina realizes her feelings weren’t true, resulting in Darryl and Rosa getting together and moving to remedial math with Jimmy Jr.
How “Can’t Buy Me Math” impacted Tina: This was a huge episode for Tina who has a crush on almost anyone. This time, she learns business and feelings shouldn’t be mixed. Basically, she should have just received tutoring. At its heart, the episode shares an important lesson about lying about who you are and who you have feelings for.
Eventually, Tina does end up with Jimmy Jr in a way so it works out. It impacted Tina by showing her that it will all work out in the end.
