X-Force: Cast building and a darker Deadpool franchise?
By Tony Smejek
The X-Force movie is in pre-production and Domino actress Zazie Beetz is said to make an appearance. Is this the stepping stone to expanding the Deadpool franchise?
It looks like the X-Force movie is moving forward. A new piece of info regarding the flick, according to the Hash Tag Show, Zazie Beetz will be joining the line-up in the Drew Goddard directed movie. The Hollywood Reporter reported Beetz having signed a 3-movie deal, so this seems to align with X-Force.
Considering the recent Deadpool 2 trailer, you’d think it would be pretty much a yuck fest. However, last year writer Simon Kinberg teased a darker team of mutants, according to ComicBook.com. However, a yuck-induced montage of raunchy jokes seems to be contrary to anything dark. I guess this depends on what you call “dark”.

Cable seems to be the only dark character from the Deadpool 2 trailer, so could he be the pot stirrer that’ll lead Deadpool to a darker, less humor quipped franchise? The R-rated Logan really got attention of many as it continued the legacy of Marvel’s dark side and it is nice to see an adult take on the world of mutants.

You have to admit, there was a section of Deadpool’s origin story that proved to be dark. The discovery of his cancer and what he had to do to get it cured was quite disturbing. Although the organization who cured him is unknown, it is quite shady. In the comics, the Weapon X program is the process of which the Deadpool and Wolverine transformations occurred.
That said, will the X-Force movie have a more scaled down brand of humor? How do you think this plan will be implemented enough to still appeal to fans? Would adding more violence balance the humor within?
Deadpool 2 is in theaters May 18.
