Blake Anderson, most well-known for his role on Workaholics, recently teamed with Dos Equis to promote their newest beer, Cinco-Equis. Anderson talked about his work with the beer brand and more in an exclusive interview with Hidden Remote.

In celebration of Cinco De Mayo, Dos Equis has partnered with Blake Anderson to promote their newest beer, Cinco-Equis. Physically, it’s no different from regular Dos Equis, but conceptually, it’s five times as extreme. That alone makes Cinco-Equis worth picking up on this Cinco De Mayo.

Blake Anderson also seems to think so too, evidenced by his reaction to their Keep It Interesante campaign. Anderson took the time to answer some of our questions regarding the campaign in an exclusive interview. He can also be seen in some Funny or Die videos where his enthusiasm for the new beer is quite obvious. Check them out here.

More from Comedy

As you can see, Anderson is more than a little excited about Cinco-Equis. One could even say he goes a bit overboard but that’s just how amped the next most interesting man in the world should be. Hopefully, fans of the beer take Anderson’s word for it because they’re going to need some delicious Cinco-Equis this year if they really want to have some fun.

In addition to talking about Cinco-Equis, Anderson also took the time to talk about a few other projects he’s involved with — the first being Eggplant Emoji. Anderson will reteam with his buddies from Netflix’s Game Over, Man on the new Netflix property. That film will follow the adventure of three spring-breakers who wind up racing the clock to ensure their maimed friend gets his package sown back on.

Blake Anderson has a lot of upcoming projects in the works

Outside of the realm of Netflix, Anderson also played part in NBC’s latest pilot, Like Family. The show has yet to be picked up for syndication but Anderson is confident that it will be.

Like Family centers around Aubrey (Kether Donahue) and Artie (Brandon Mychal Smith). Aubrey and Artie are two friends who formed a sibling type of bond while growing up in the foster care system. But now that they’re older, navigating through adulthood together is getting a bit complicated. Anderson will play Mason, a self-assured Millennial with a mind to match. Other than that, not much is known about Anderson’s character.

The final topic we discussed in our interview with Anderson deal with his own clothing line, Teenage. He spoke about how the brand was created during his time on Workaholics and has only expanded since then. We talked about Teenage a bit more and then closed out our discussion shortly after. You can check out the transcribed version of the interview in its entirety below.

Hidden Remote: Blake, you recently partnered with Dos Equis to introduce their latest beer, Cinco Equis, as part of the Keep It Interesante campaign. What is Keep It Interesante all about?

Blake Anderson: So basically, me and my favorite beer in the whole world, Dos Equis, came together to create some super funny Funny or Die videos for the internet. You should check them out because they’re quite silly.

Dos Equis XXXXX-treme! from Funny Or Die

HR: Pivoting off of that, how does Blake Anderson keep it “interesante”?

BA: Usually with the aid of Dos Equis, but yeah man, the best way to keep things interesante is all about embellishing the truth. If you’re telling a really boring story, make sure to throw in some details that might not be exactly true. Spice up your stories a little bit, throw in a Sasquatch here and there.

HR: Do you ever find yourself bending the truth to make your own stories more entertaining?

BA: Oh yeah man, all the time, you kidding me, mostly on work resumes. I just would say like “oh yeah I used to be a doctor or a surgeon”, they never call your references. And if they do, just make sure you put down the number of a friend who’s really good at spinning tales, weaving a fable if you will.

HR: What advice would you give to fans trying to “keep it interesante” this Cinco De Mayo?

BA: Well I’ll definitely say make sure you always got a freakin’ cold Cinco Equis in hand because that’s going to help you in just having the courage to tackle the Interesante dragons of this world and when I speak of that, I’m just kind of talking about being social, talk to people, look them in the eye, smile.

HR: Alright, moving on to your acting roles. You were recently cast in Netflix’s Game Over, Man where you partnered with your co-stars from Workaholics. Are we going to see more of you on Netflix?

BA: Yeah, yeah, actually me and the guys are producing a movie with them, Eggplant Emoji. Yeah, we’re in talks with [Netflix] about maybe doing a sequel to Game Over, Man or also working on possibly other projects. We really like working with Netflix, they let us make the movies we want to make and are fun business partners for sure. Hopefully, it’s the beginning of a long and fruitful relationship.

HR: You probably get asked this a lot but are you and the guys from Workaholics actually friends? You guys appear to have such good chemistry on-screen that something must be there. Do the two correlate?

BA: Yeah man, I mean, we’re just actual friends so I think that translates to screen and it’s also when I’m with those dudes, we’re just having fun. We’re having a good time so it’s really just a dream job and I think that’s why people respond to it.

HR: What is Eggplant Emoji about?

Blake Anderson: That’s about these kids who kinda go on a spring break into the woods and lo and behold, one of them winds up cutting off their private parts. It’s right in our wheelhouse. You can see why we attached our names to that.

Now With More Equis! from Funny Or Die

HR: Blake, you recently did a pilot with NBC, I believe it’s called Like Family. What can you tell me about it?

BA: Uhh that was something I did a couple, it must’ve been like a month or two ago. I haven’t heard anything but it was kinda like my first time venturing into doing a multi-cam with a live-studio audience stuff. It was super cool, it kinda reminded me of going back to my sketch comedy days of doing live shows and stuff. I was a little nervous about having to learn lines and stuff but when there’s an audience there laughing, it’s just like, it’s a whole energy, it’s a whole vibe, kinda the way comedy is supposed to be so I had a really good time and it would be super cool if the show gets picked up.

HR:  For our final question, you have a clothing line called Teenage, how did that come about?

BA: I started it probably like four years ago now, boredteenager.com. It was basically like on Workaholics, sometimes, I made shirts with markers by hand and get a lot of response from Twitter and stuff so I kinda just decided to invest in myself and it’s also super cool to design stuff, and create it, and hold it in your hands, and wear it out. You know, I’m all about the creative process, anything, where I can do that, is cool and it’s just been kind of a good fit and been a fun way I don’t know, to express myself, I guess.

Next: Summer movies to watch on Netflix

You can check out Eggplant Emoji on Netlifx on July 28, 2018. And don’t forget to stay cool this Cinco De Mayo with a tall can of Cinco Equis.
