If you’re looking for something to watch this Mother’s Day, BritBox has brought Lesley Manville’s Mum. The British comedy series is everything you could need to remind yourself of everything you could love about your own mom.

Lesley Manville’s Mum is back for a second season and is available on BritBox in time for Mother’s Day. This comedy is everything you could need, reminding you of all the things you’ll love about your own mom and more.

Centered around Cathy, a recent widow who has to learn to navigate the world around her, we meet her in-laws, her brother and his girlfriend, her son and his girlfriend, and a close friend, Michael. The whole gang appears in the very first episode of the Mum Season 2, picking up with Cathy’s 60th birthday. This may be one of the more dysfunctional families, but it’s clear that Cathy wouldn’t ask for anything more.

Despite Kelly’s somewhat self-centered attitude most of the time, she certainly has her moments. While they all get ready for the party, Kelly and Cathy discuss Kelly and Jason moving out. It’s one of those moments in every mother’s life that’s both good and bad. You spend all these years with your children and you’re ready for that time of quiet at home, but it’s not quite the way Cathy planned it since her husband is no longer with her. Kelly sees that and there’s this sweet and genuine moment through the laughter.

Then there’s the brewing relationship between Cathy and Michael. It’s clear everyone else has opinions on the idea of the relationship, but all that matters is just how smitten Michael clearly is with Cathy. And while she may not be ready to admit it yet, she clearly has some interest in him. You’ll have to watch the season to find out just where this relationship goes.

Mum is certainly one of the typical comedies. If you love the likes of Birds of a Feather, you’ll certainly enjoy this. My favorite character has to be Reg, who clearly isn’t afraid to say what he thinks and is more than willing to flirt to get a discount at Sainbury’s. He’s like the typical grandfather, with his wife, Maureen, his partner in crime.

When you need a way to wind up the day on Mother’s Day and remember everything you’re thankful for, Mum on BritBox is the way to do it.
