We start with Mari in her fight against white people in the neighborhood. Her opening involves more than an interrupted video on YouTube this time. She spraypaints a white artist’s shop and tells him nobody wants him around when he challenges her.
Later, Mari goes back to her videos, angry at the fences being placed and people being displaced from their homes. She’s interrupted by a man in the street, but he’s a subscriber on her vlog and supports everything she says. When she offers him the chance to finish his vlogging protest off, he jumps at the chance with an impassioned speech. Mari is clearly impressed by and attracted to him.

Eddy makes her wishes clear
As for Emma and Lyn, they discuss their options now. Emma is set on selling the building, but Lyn has personal issues to deal with first. Her boyfriend is flying in for his truck back.
When they go to leave, Eddy has made breakfast—and Lyn finds it delicious. Eddy uses this chance to make it clear that she isn’t going to sell, no matter what the books and tax returns say. This was Vida’s place and she’s not just giving it up. It looks like there will be a fight on the three women’s hands.
Lyn learns her boyfriend’s true nature
Lyn meets with her boyfriend, only to find out that he wants a break. To make it worse, he waited until after some fun in the bedroom to tell her. Then she learns he packed a bag for her. Rather than cry and beg for him back, Lyn stands strong and makes her feelings clear, bringing up the fact that he broke up with her two days after burying her mother.
She turns to one of her neighbors, who knows exactly what has happened without telling her. The neighbor has read her cards and knows that Lyn’s true love is here—and it’s bigger than a man. She doesn’t quite listen to everything being said, but does pick up that Johnny still loves her and rushes out.
Rather than wallow or think too much, Lyn opts to go out for a run. Of course, it’s in the direction of the garage Johnny works at. Johnny is fed up of Lyn coming in and breaking his heart over and over again and makes it clear he wants her to stay away from him. It doesn’t quite work out and when Mari goes looking for Johnny for help with their dad, she catches Johnny and Lyn together.
As Johnny and Lyn sit in silence, Lyn finally lets her guard down and cries to him about losing Vida.
Emma learns the financial truths
Meanwhile, Emma looks over things on her laptop at one of the local coffee shops. Cruz goes to her table to encourage Emma not to sell to the developer since he’s destroying the neighborhood, but Emma isn’t willing to listen. Just as it looks like it could turn into an argument, Emma thanks Cruz for bringing over the pastry and Cruz gives Emma her number.
When she gets to the developer’s office, she runs into another woman who knew Vida. This woman isn’t surprised to see Emma there. Despite the developer being a pariah, she shares that people stopped going to the bar when Vida came out. The business has died because of her.
This is the point that Emma learns there are two mortgages. Vida had never raised the rents for the tenants and was struggling to pay the first mortgage. When she got sick, the predator developer gave her a second mortgage for more than the building was worth. She is instantly angry at his actions and makes it clear that she isn’t selling to him.
On the way back, she runs into Lyn. Emma makes it clear they need to stay a little longer until she figures out what they can do next. They get home to Eddy, who’s eating one of the flans because they can last for a week or maybe more. Emma and Lynn sit at the table and dig into the flan (yes, even Lyn), while they talk the past and know they’ll need to come together to move onto the next step.
