Big Brother 20 is coming up and I have an idea for the producers. Can we please get rid of the early evictions that take place before the episodes on CBS?

A familiar facet to Big Brother has become the early evictions of houseguests. CBS and production set it up so that somebody is evicted during their first few days in the Big Brother house. This means that by the time the first episode airs on CBS, that someone has already been sent packing. It’s time for that to end. Fans don’t enjoy it. Neither does the evicted houseguest.

The Big Brother 20 idea

Here is the breakdown of what has happened in the past. During Big Brother 19, production filmed the first eviction ceremony on Day 1. Cameron Heard left the show early, evicted by an 8-3-2 vote. This allowed Paul Abrahamian to re-join the show through a punishment in a competition. When the season premiere finally showed up, Cameron wasn’t in the house. Viewers never really got to see him, even though Cameron appeared in a Battle Back competition later.

Remember Glenn Garcia from Big Brother 18? Don’t worry, neither do most viewers. He lasted just two days before a pre-taped eviction ceremony took place. Footage that Glenn and Cameron were on the show still exists on the CBS site for the show. Fans can check out free episodes of Big Brother 19 there to catch up with the show. Fans just wanting a recap of the season can check that out here.

As previously reported by Inside the BB House, the BB20 cast will also enter the game early. This leaves open the possibility of another early eviction. While this provides more footage for CBS to pre-tape, it does a disservice to the viewers. Especially family and friends cheering on someone. Providing a Battle Back competition isn’t a good enough compromise.

New season right around the corner

The summer 2018 season premiere arrives on June 27. Episodes will air on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. That schedule from CBS has shifted slightly, though, as Wednesday episodes will air at 9 p.m. PT/ET. For the two-hour premiere, it will begin at 8 p.m. on both coasts. Production has advertised that there will be no returning houseguests in the BB20 cast.

Host Julie Chen is back for another summer of expecting the unexpected. With less than a month until the first episode, it also means that the BB20 cast reveal is coming up soon. That should create even more buzz for the show and provide a lot of material for fans to debate about on social media. But, will all the new houseguests survive Day 1?
