#10 Jane dumps Michael (S01 E6)
Being in the first few episodes of the first season, we really didn’t think that they would break up so soon. Especially since Jane proposed to Michael in the first episode, them breaking up just didn’t really seem like it was going to happen (despite Rafael).

This was a surprising thing that happened, but there was also a lot of foreshadowing leading up to it. Everyone knew that their relationship either wouldn’t last or would be very strained if they stayed together. Jane having feelings for Rafael just wasn’t something she could change. No matter how much she wanted to.
The really surprising part to most fans was that Jane told Rafael that her and Michael had broken up that same night. And then kissed him. That same night. Michael later found out about Rafael and Jane being an item, very soon after their breakup. After finding a bouquet of flowers from Rafael, saying, “Even though it’s not a date, I’m going to kiss you again tonight,” he tells Jane, “You’re not the person I thought you were.”
