Westworld: 7 best moments from Season 2
By Kelley Hey
Last night, Westworld ended its second season. Its sophomore season was filled with plenty of knockout moments. Here are the 7 best moments from season 2.
The second season of Westworld was, for the most part, an excellent season of television. It has also been one heck of a ride. With plenty of intense moments, surprising twists, and shocking character reveals, Westworld has kept us on the edge of our seats.

- Industry season 3 is not coming until 2024: Here’s what we know about the release
1. Meeting the Shogun World counterparts
Since season one, fans have been curious about Shogun World, the Edo period-inspired park. In “Akane No Mai“, Westworld gave us an inside glimpse of the world and it did not disappoint.
The best sequence in Shogun World was when we were introduced to Maeve, Hector, and Armistice’s Shogun World counterparts. Set to a Japanese-infused “Paint It Black” instrumental, we first meet Musashi, Akane, and Hanaryo kicking butt and taking no prisoners. It is a well-executed, entertaining, and epic scene.
2. Giancarlo Esposito’s cameo
It just makes perfect sense that the man who played the ruthless Gus Fring on Breaking Bad would make an appearance in an unforgiving part of the park. And what a cameo it was. His speech in “Reunion” stole the thunder from Ed Harris himself. It was kind of sad to see his character die. I would have liked to see more of him wreaking havoc in the park.
3. Maeve and Dolores’ talk
It would have been easy for the writers to pit Maeve and Dolores against each other. They both have very different ideologies and paths. However, in “Les Écorchés” the two come to an understanding. In a society that constantly tries to pit women against each other, this was refreshing to see.
4. “Kiksuya”‘s ending
It is hard to pick a singular moment from such an excellent episode, but its ending sequence was especially poignant. Akecheta and Maeve are such wonderfully crafted and likeable characters. To see that Akecheta was actually talking to Maeve the whole time and see the bond they formed was beautiful.
5. Angela’s sacrifice
Angela went out with a bang … literally. Her death was heroic and in a way, clever. Using what Delos used her for (sex), she seduces a Delos worker that was about to kill her before she set fire to The Cradle. There is something brilliant about a man’s weakness being his downfall.
6. Lee’s sacrifice
Angela is not the only one who had a heroic sacrifice this season. In the season finale, Lee sacrifices himself in order for Maeve to safely make her way to her daughter. Lee’s character arc this season has been so interesting to watch. With this sacrifice, his redemption came full circle. I will miss his character and his dynamic with Maeve.
7. The library of humans
In the season finale, we see the guests’ data storage portrayed in a very unique and creative way. In the system of The Forge, Logan leads Dolores and Bernard to a literal library filled with books.

Each book in the library is filled with each guest’s individual code. I find the idea of a library of human personalities fascinating. It is also an interesting concept that each person’s code fits in just one book.
