When Josh lies to get alone time, Gabi goes overboard to prove a point. But does Josh’s ‘me’ time spell bedroom trouble for Young & Hungry’s endgame ship?

You would think that since Gabi and Josh have committed themselves to their relationship that Young & Hungry would allow them a grace period before stirring the pot. But that’s just not their style, and neither is it Gabi’s style. When presented with two potential solutions to any given problem, Gabi will always opt for the one most likely to blow up in her face. As well as she means, Gabi has never successfully made it out of a troubling situation without inciting even more chaos.

In this week’s double header of Young & Hungry, Gabi does exactly that. As she and Josh cap off an extended stay together at his penthouse, Gabi heads back to her apartment just before Josh settles in to watch the (fictional) Game of Thrones season premiere. But she fails to take Josh’s hint that he would much rather watch the premiere on his own… without any interruptions… or Gabi distractions. Instead, she drives him to formulate a lie to secure some “me” time.

Of course, Josh asks Elliot for help in plotting the lie, which was Josh’s first mistake. Elliot spins the story that Josh has joined a local swimming club that swims out to Alcatraz and back once a month and trains three nights per week. He’s in the clear with his evenings away from Gabi until she stops by to drop off surprise post-swim snacks and secretly catches him not training for his marathon swims. Despite Sofia’s recommendation to just talk, Gabi plots to force his confession.

First, she waxes his entire body to help aid his swimming speed, but he doesn’t break. She kicks it into overdrive by accompanying her “bay bae” to the race he was pretending to participate in. It’s a game of chicken, and Gabi thinks she’s winning. But Josh would rather dive into the freezing ocean with sharks than admit to the truth. When he finally makes it back to Gabi, they cease the competition and realize they need to work on their communication. Ironically, Sofia had hit that nail on the head, but what would the fun be in listening to your friend’s advice?

In the second episode of Young & Hungry, Lil’ So So rides again, and this time, she’s behind the wheel. While Elliot and Yolanda feign an injury in order to land front-row tickets to Bruno Mars’ latest show, Sofia works nights as a driver for a ride sharing company. However, she somehow manages to mostly cart Gabi around and provide guidance that she’ll never take to heart. Between her backseat pepper spray and braless pizza eating, it’s clear as crystal that Sofia’s not getting the love she deserves this season.

Meanwhile, Gabi’s also not getting the love she deserves, or so she thinks. When Josh kisses her on the forehead and goes to sleep without having sex two nights in a row (the horror!), she assumes it’s an official death sentence for their relationship. He’s lost interest in her, it’s done, they’re over. Gabi’s delusions continue when she thinks she’s walked in on Josh pleasuring himself. In reality, he was anxiously (and aggressively) working on his newest app. Some one-sided sitcom wordplay all but confirms to Gabi that Josh has gone solo. Rolling pin, meet laptop.

While rushing to have Josh’s computer fixed a local shop (shocker: Gabi didn’t listen to Sofia’s advice to be honest again), Gabi runs right into the bullpen. Well, she hides behind the counter first. Josh follows the tracker in his computer to the store, and as he connects the dots, Gabi emerges from her crouch to confront his supposed solitary habits. Once and for all, Josh eases her mind: Stop waiting for the other shoe to drop. It’s true. They have been on this ride before, and there were always stops. But this time is different. Unlike Yolanda with tWitch, Jabi is forever.

What do you think, Youngries? Should Gabi actually learn from her mistakes and communicate with Josh? Did Elliot and Yolanda take it too far with tWitch and the Bruno Mars tickets? Is Lil’ So So tragically underrated? Sound off in the comments!

The final season of Young & Hungry airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on Freeform.
