Summer is officially underway and July features a few highly anticipated series premieres. Here are four new shows you should look out for!

The summer months are always a busy time. Between BBQs, beach trips, and pool days, we must set aside time to hit the theater for major blockbusters and catch the return of our favorite summer series. Netflix alone has a number of summer series that cannot be missed.

As we carve out time for our TV downtime, be sure to consider the new shows hitting the small screen this July. The list on premieres might be short but July has a few heavy-hitters. There is no doubt that some of these titles will be the most talked about shows of the summer.

Here are the shows worth checking out in July.

1. Sharp Objects

Starring: Amy Adams, Patricia Clarkson, Eliza Scanlen, Elizabeth Perkins, Madison Davenport, Chris Messina, Matt Craven, Taylor John Smith, Sophia Lillis

Network: HBO

Premiere Date: July 8, 2018

More from Entertainment

Based on Gillian Flynn’s 2006 debut novel by the same name, HBO jumped at the chance to adapt the thriller into an eight-episode miniseries. The first of the new shows follows Camille (Adams), a crime reporter returning to her hometown of Missouri to investigate the recent murders of two young girls. Camille has just left her stint at a psychiatric hospital after years of self-harm so being back home facing her judgemental mother certainly doesn’t help matters. Sophia Lillis who served a standout performance as Beverly Marsh in It last year portrays the younger version of Camille.

2. The Outpost

Starring: Jessica Green, Jake Stormoen, Imogen Waterhouse, Andrew Howard, Anand Desai-Barochia, Robyn Malcolm

Network: The CW

Premiere Date: July 10, 2018

For fans missing their favorite CW lineup during the summer hiatus, The Outpost might be something to check out. The fantasy series follows a young woman named Talon (Green). She is the last surviving member of a race known as the “Blackbloods” after a group of mercenaries destroyed the village. Talon sets out to the outpost that houses her family’s killers but on her journey, she discovers her own supernatural powers.

3. Castle Rock

Starring:  André Holland, Jane Levy, Sissy Spacek, Melanie Lynskey, Bill Skarsgård, Scott Glenn, Terry O’Quinn

Network: Hulu

Premiere Date: July 25, 2018

Considering Castle Rock is based on the stories written by Stephen King, viewers will surely be tuning in. Since the series announcement, not much about the project has been made public other than the focus will be centered on the intertwining lives of citizens in the fictional town of Castle Rock, Maine. Based on the trailer footage, the series is using a number of characters and locations from some of King’s most memorable novels. The most notable being the connection to Shawshank State Penitentiary. Castle Rock will incorporate King’s iconic use of mythological storytelling while telling a new tale of good versus evil.

4. Making It

Starring: Amy Poehler, Nick Offerman, Dayna Isom Johnson, Simon Doonan

Network: NBC

Premiere Date: July 31, 2018

Leslie Knopp and Ron Swanson are back, sort of. The Parks and Recreation stars are reuniting for a reality competition show. Poehler and Offerman will host the series which follows various contestants faced with crafting challenges. Parks and Rec fans will remember how crafty the duo set out to be, especially with Ron’s woodworking. Dayna Isom Johnson and Simon Doonan will serve as the judges for the competition series.
