Alannah has learned that she’s not the only one to suffer from Brad’s sexual harassment on Nashville. Now it looks like she’s trying to play him at his own game. Will that work?

Alannah’s storyline is the most timely of all on Nashville. The show takes a look at the realities of sexual harassment in the workplace. More importantly, it’s a look at sexual harassment and abuse within the entertainment industry, focusing on music instead of movies. Now that Alannah has realized she’s not the only one suffering from Brad’s harassment, she’s stepping up. Is she really able to play him at his own game?

Is this even what she wants to do? It’s clear that she has a plan in her head. While telling him that she wasn’t interested in him–that she hated him–she continued to flirt. Just what does she think she’s doing?

Attempting to prove the type of man Brad really is?

My theory is that she’s trying to make Brad look like the jerk he is in the public light. The best way to do that is to get him to harass and belittle in public. That’s not easy, as he clearly knows what he is doing is wrong but just doesn’t care. He was the one that mentioned the #MeToo movement before taking away everything Alannah had been promised.

The problem with sexual harassment is that it’s all a “he-said-she-said” situation. Trying to prove it is almost impossible. Most of the actions happen behind closed doors and it takes a group to have the strength and courage to step forward.

Alannah has that strength. She’s dealt with jerks like Brad before and she proved she had the courage to stand up to him in the first place. Part of her will know how he works and she’ll be able to use that knowledge to her advantage.

Will Brad work it out first?

The concern for Alannah is that Brad will figure out what she’s doing. All he has to feel is threatened by her actions and he can pull away, taking all her opportunities with him. Or he could turn it all around on her. They’re meeting in public spaces so someone will see them together. Brad just needs one person to see that she was flirting.

Alannah must know that. She must know that she’s putting herself in a dangerous predicament. So why is she taking this risk? Why is she pushing to play Brad at his own game? This is why I do think there’s something more to this. She’s hiding something that we, as the viewer, can’t see yet. This is a woman on a mission and it’s going to be interesting to see how this plays out in the final two episodes.
