The Vikings Season 5B trailer was revealed at SDCC 2018. Here’s a breakdown of the promo with takeaways for when the season will return.

We’ve waited a long time, but the Vikings Season 5B trailer has finally arrived. Revealed at SDCC 2018 during the Vikings panel, it showed just more than two-and-a-half minutes of civil war intensity.

Just as a warning, there are spoilers in this post up to the Vikings Season 5A finale.

All the major players were involved in the promo, including Lagertha, Bjorn, Ivar, Ubbe, Hvitserk, and Floki. And yes, King Alfred will return–you’ll remember that he was named king over his brother after his father’s untimely death from a bee sting.

It’s time to break down everything that happened in the Vikings Season 5B trailer. Here are the top takeaways, including the premiere date.

Ivar has officially become King of Kattegat

This isn’t that surprising, but it’s worth mentioning that Ivar the Boneless is officially King of Kattegat. To be honest, we always expected this to happen, didn’t we? When Ivar sets his mind to something, it’s likely to happen. He’s a man of strategy and forward planning.

Of course, this doesn’t mean it’s all going to be smooth sailing. He didn’t just want Kattegat. He’s out for revenge for his mother’s death and wants to kill her murderer, Lagertha. With the people of Kattegat behind him, he thinks he has the upper hand. And maybe he does. For now.

The Seer appears again and things aren’t looking great with Ivar in charge. During the promo, the Seer says that there’s darkness and everyone is going to the dark. What exactly does this mean? Could it mean Ivar is going to completely destroy everything? We’ll have to wait to find out.

Ivar may not keep Kattegat for long. Bjorn wants his home back and he is willing to fight to get it.
