It’s finally time to learn just what happened in that dark year in The 100 Season 5, Episode 11. What did Wonkru have to do to survive?

The 100 Season 5 introduced the idea of “The Dark Year” at the very start of the season. What happened during that year has been at the back of our minds throughout the season. Just what turned Octavia into a ruthless leader? Why is Abby struggling so much with the guilt of what she did? We’ll finally learn everything in Episode 11, aptly titled, “The Dark Year.”

Sure enough, it’s a race against time to save Abby. She’s not fairing well and it looks like she’s starting to give up the fight for her life. As if Clarke would ever let her mom do that! Clarke will also learn that everyone is sick and only Abby can help. That’s why they keep giving her pills to keep her working.

Meanwhile, Diyoza doesn’t have much hope for her army when it comes to holding the Shadow Valley. She knows that the Red Queen’s army will win. The question now is whether there’s anything they can do to stop this. Can she and Kane find a way to stop Wonkru from taking over and killing everyone in sight?

I’ve liked Diyoza’s character development. The army being the bad guys was just too obvious. The 100 Season 5 has given us the Grounders’ side of the story when a ship of people landed on the Earth. There was fear and distrust, but they were able to eventually work together. Now we’ve had the chance to see it all over again, this time with Clarke and co. as the Grounders.

Finally, this episode is going to explore The Dark Year. What did they do that they’re so ashamed of? How did Octavia become the ruthless leader she now is?
