Bob’s Burgers: The case for releasing audio-only episodes
Since premiering in 2011, Bob’s Burgers has adapted in many ways. Next, the show should release their episodes in audio format for fans to enjoy.
Bob’s Burgers has become one of the most popular animated of the 21st century. It’s known for having great characters, hilarious plotlines and its songs. The songs and holiday episodes are easily the show’s biggest selling point. Even after 8 seasons, the show is still looking to adapt.
Most recently, there’s been some buzz around the show releasing audio-only episodes. A fan of the show questioned Loren Bouchard around it. Bouchard was quick to provide a positive answer: “I love this idea. Been wanting to release the episodes as a free podcast or whatever for years. It’s an audio-driven show. Should still work.” Even though it’s not a guarantee, it’s still something.
That being said, there’s a lot of different reasons why audio-only episodes of Bob’s Burgers would be awesome for fans. The most obvious reason being that it’s a new way to consume the show. Most of us don’t have time to sit at our computers all day to watch the episodes but having it an audio format is a lot more accessible.
Instead of waiting to go home, you could be listening to the show during your commute, when you’re cleaning or doing anything where you can’t focus. It’s definitely unique as far as ideas go. For die-hard fans, it’s going to be fun as they already know what’s going on.

Another huge reason is some people don’t like to consume visual media or can’t for that matter. In school, we found out what kind of learner what are and some people are more auditory than others. It’s in how their brain is wired and if Bob’s Burgers can accommodate to that, why stop them?
Additionally, there are people who have disabilities who can’t physically watch the show. Having it in audio format could be an option for them, too. A lot of other shows could take a lesson as most would easily translate to audio.
As good as the idea is, there are still a few hiccups that could arise. First, Bouchard mentioned the audio being free and while it’s a nice idea, I don’t think Fox will be down for that. If they’re producing the show, they’ll be willing to milk every penny they can get.
The other issue is hosting. As for right now, Itunes seems like the best idea but with the show streaming on Hulu, they might want it. It’s going to come down which host works better for the series and for their consumers. Coupled with the cost, it could get ugly.
All that being said, there’s definitely a case for and against creating audio-only episodes of Bob’s Burgers. The case for creating them is a bit stronger and Bouchard’s replies prove that to be true. Hopefully, Bob’s Burgers decides to work on releasing audio-only episodes. Maybe if we’re lucky, they’ll release seasons 1-8 and eventually, season 9. Either way, it would be an awesome treat to hold us off until the season 9 premiere.
Bob’s Burgers season 9 premieres September 30th on Fox at 8:30/7:30c.
