With his NFL career behind him and a career in animation, it’s time for Bob’s Burgers to tap Martellus Bennett for a guest role on the series.

Bob’s Burgers has had a plethora of different guest stars. Each year, the list seems to get even longer. With the show at peak popularity, there’s no telling who they’re able to snag for an appearance. The past two seasons have been jam-packed with guest stars, too.

Looking ahead at season 9, the show will hopefully have even more. There have been comedians, actors, singers and TV personalities featured. One demographic they’ve ignored is athletes, both current and former. One athlete, in particular, is Martellus Bennett.

Martellus Bennett is a former NFL tight end who has played for multiple teams including the Dallas Cowboys and New England Patriots. After dealing with injuries and lack of interest, Bennett officially retired in 2018. Since his retirement, Bennett has kept busy.

Even before retiring, Bennett started the Imagination Agency. Bennett started the multimedia production company in 2014 and it has grown immensely since then. In particular, Bennett authored his own children’s book, helped created an app, comic book and a short film.

The company is known for their The Fantastical Adventures of A.J. series. According to the company’s official Facebook page, “The Fantastical Adventures of A.J. follows the humorous antics of A.J., an imaginative, outgoing and adventurous 6-year-old African American girl, and Theo, her unaware anthropomorphic stuffed rabbit as they explore fantastical worlds created with the power of her imagination.” The episodes can be found on their app, Youtube, and Facebook.

It’s clear Bennett has a love for animation and it’s time he took his talent to the small screen starting with Bob’s Burgers. Even if Bennett isn’t a fan of the show, Loren Bouchard clearly is. Bouchard has been retweeting and liking some of Bennett’s Imagination Agency posts and that has to be a sign. If anything, it’s the perfect way to bridge the gap.

Bob’s Burgers might not have a diverse main cast, but they do have a lot of diverse side characters. Maybe they could feature Bennett as a friend of the kids, an athlete Tina gets a crush on or a chef Bob befriends. Maybe they would even let Bennett draw his own character, who knows?

Having Bennett guest star would break the mold for the show. It’s time Bob’s Burgers has an athlete lend their voice to the series. Bennett not only has a love for animation but also knows a bit about the behind-the-scenes. He might be a bit more qualified than some of their other guest stars.

Martellus Bennett probably isn’t the first name people think of and that’s good. The show is underrated and so is Bennett. The only issue the two might run into is their schedules as Bennett and the cast/crew are very busy. Other than that, why shouldn’t Martellus Bennett guest star?
