getTV and Discovery honoring Burt Reynolds with programming

The world is mourning the loss of Burt Reynolds. To honor the legendary actor, getTV and Discovery are both airing specials this month.

Burt Reynolds passed away at the age of 82 on Sept. 6 and the world is certainly mourning. The legendary actor was known for the likes of Smokey and the Bandit, Boogie Nights, Deliverance, and much more. With 186 acting credits, 14 director credits, and 11 producer credits, Reynolds will go down as one of the greats.

Now Discovery and getTV are honoring the Oscar-nominated actor during the month of September. They’ll air specials during the next three weekends.

Discovery is up first with a special two-hour episode of Fast n’ Loud on Sept. 8. The episode features Reynolds, along with the replica ’77 Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit. You’ll be able to catch the rebroadcasted episode at 9 a.m. ET/PT tomorrow. It’s also available on Discovery GO.

getTV follows with specials on Sept. 15 and 22. The network will air episodes from classic TV shows Dan August and Hawk, two roles Reynolds had before “The Bandit.” In both roles, the actor played a detective. In fact, Dan August was a show just before his breakout role in Deliverance, so certainly not one to miss.

Four episodes from Dan August will air on other Sept. 15 and 22 between 12 noon and 5 p.m. ET.

Following that, Hawk (pictured above) will get a couple of reruns. at 12:50 a.m. ET on Sunday, Sept. 23 (so 9:50 p.m. PT on Sept. 22) a handful of episodes will air. More will then the following weekend, starting at 1:10 a.m. ET on Sept. 23 (10:10 p.m. PT on Sept. 22).

Still not enough? More episodes will air from 12 midnight to 5 a.m. on Sept. 23. Then on Sept. 12 at 2 a.m. ET (11 p.m. PT on Sept. 11), getTV will air an episode of The Sonny and Cher Show, which featured the legendary actor. That episode will air again in October, along with the four episodes of Dan August.
