Vikings Season 5A wrapped earlier this year and we were left with fates of all our favorites hanging in the balance. When will Vikings Season 5 return with its next 10 episodes?

Vikings Season 5A ended with Lagertha, Bjorn, and others fleeing the battlefield after Ivar unveiled his French army led by Rollo. It was clear Lagertha’s people were outnumbered and now they are without Kattegat for the rest of Vikings Season 5

What we didn’t know for a long time was when the fifth season would return with its 10 episodes. That date was revealed at SDCC 2018, during the Vikings Q&A panel. We’ll get the Vikings Season 5B premiere on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018.

This is almost a year since the fifth season premiered, so Season 5B is going to feel more like a sixth season instead of the second half of the fifth. Not that we’re complaining! After all, we know that we have Vikings Season 6 confirmed–and the cast and crew are filming that as I type!

Vikings Season 5B will see Bjorn, Lagertha, and their armies heading to England. Bishop Heahmund knows that getting the English army on their side is the best chance they have against Ivar the Boneless. It certainly looks like Hvitserk has seen Ivar’s terrible ways, too, as he seems to have sided with Bjorn.

Lagertha has certainly aged in the promo, which suggests another big time jump. Her hair is now white, although that could be from the stress of everything that has happened. After seeing her as a warrior for years, there’s the fear that we’ll see a weakened woman.

There are fears that Lagertha will be killed off this season. Kathryn Winnick has shared that she knows a Son of Ragnar will kill her but not the one that will do it. Ivar seems like the obvious, but could Hvitserk get revenge for his mother’s death? What about Ubbe, who will likely believe Kattegat is his. Bjorn seems unlikely, but he could kill Lagertha out of mercy or it could be an accident in the middle of battle.

Whether Lagertha’s death happens this season will remain unknown. Winnick has been around for Vikings Season 6, but she’s started taking a step behind the camera so her appearance on set could be for that. Showrunner and writer Michael Hirst has hinted we have nothing to worry about because “Lagertha always survives.”
