Season 1 – Murder House

Violet’s realization

Murder House really set the tone for what was to come for American Horror Story as a whole. The series pushed the boundaries from the get-go with the shock and gore. As the premiere season focused on the Harmon family, we followed along as their lives were greatly changed after moving into their new house of horrors. The biggest shock, however, centered on the youngest Harmon.

More from FX

Violet (Taissa Farmiga) was a tortured soul. As much as she tried to resist the darkness, there was always something pulling her back in. That something was usually at the hand of Tate Langdon (Evan Peters). In the sixth episode, Violet was distraught about her feeling for Tate especially after learning about his dark past. Throw in the drama regarding her parents and the fact she lives in a house full of ghosts, she just couldn’t take it anymore. After taking a bottle of pills, Tate seemingly found her and saved her life.

Well, it turned out that Tate’s efforts were unsuccessful and Violet really died that day. A few episodes later, Violet learned of her death after Tate showed her the corpse but that wasn’t until after she freaked out from not being able to leave the house. To the shock of viewers, and to Violet, she was living as one of the ghosts and must abide by the house rules. After trying to keep her death a secret, the truth came out and she is later joined by her parents after their deaths.
