Season 6: Destroying Sam’s wall

As I mentioned, not all the moments would be good ones. They are iconic moments that stand out and show the depths of Castiel’s character over the years. In this case, it’s all about Castiel’s willingness to potentially kill one of the closest friends he has.

In Supernatural Season 6, Episode 22 (the season finale), Castiel is one step closer to becoming “God.” He’s caused a civil war in Heaven, with some siding with Raphael and others choosing Castiel. In previous moments, he’d decided that what he’d done was the right thing and that led everyone to this point.

Sam, Dean, and Bobby attempt to stop Castiel in an alleyway, but he refuses to let it all get that far. To put the brakes on the Winchesters, he touches Sam’s temple and breaks the wall.

For those who don’t quite remember, Death gave Sam a wall after Sam got his soul back. The wall was to help prevent the torture Sam faced in the cage back, helping to save Sam’s mental state and life. Castiel completely destroyed that wall, bringing every memory of Lucifer’s torture back.

How can something like this be Castiel’s best moment of Supernatural Season 6? He hurt his friends! And that’s why. He proved just how far he is willing to go for a cause he believes in.

Sure, he was on the wrong side of this cause, but he believed in it. This would let us know what he would do in the future.
