Castiel is loyal to the Winchesters. With Dean under the control of an unpredictable version of the archangel Michael, what lines wouldn’t he cross to save his fellow righteous soul and beloved friend in season 14 of Supernatural?

It’s been a long road for Castiel on Supernatural The Winchesters, most dominantly Dean, are his closest friends in the universe so it is no surprise that he will go to all lengths when they are in need. This is certainly one of those times. We already know we’re going to be seeing him in a greater percentage of episodes this season, but in what context?

When it comes to saving the world, Castiel has gone so far as to allow himself to be possessed by Lucifer in Season 11, “The Devil in the Details.” But we have also seen him go a little astray like when he sucked up all the Purgatory souls and decided he would make a better God than God.

More from Supernatural

This is not to suggest that he is anything less than a righteous soul, but more that even an angel of God can take a turn down a dark path if the circumstances are just so.

This is why we’re left wondering what to expect from him as Supernatural Season 14 approaches. He has a lot on his plate with Jack looking up to him, Sam and the bunker folk, Heaven’s ills, and fresh Michael out to probably destroy the world.

But what is likely to consume him the most is the search for a way to free Dean from Michael’s control. We know he is apparently willing to consider getting in touch with some… folks, (black eyes were mentioned), that he wouldn’t usually have anything to do with, according to Andrew Dabb, Supernatural Showrunner.

Castiel is expected to be at full power when we start the season and we’ve seen what that can mean. Our first introduction to Castiel on Supernatural was the knowledge that he was the one who brought Dean out of the pit, alongside what happens when someone sees his true face. For Castiel to need help, we are going to be looking at something pretty significant and dangerous.

And just who is he going to be getting in touch with, anyway? In the same breath, Dabb also mentions the fact that we’ll be getting a healthy look into Hell very immediately. I wonder who will be there to run the show? Maybe it will even be Castiel, himself.

Even without a ruler, demons can run amok and go on making deals at the crossroads. Would Castiel go that far? Are we talking possession again? It’s doubtful. But who’s to say these helpers will be coming from Hell, anyway?

He is capable of more than we know, I’m sure. Do you think he can handle another stroll through Purgatory? Or The Empty? There are a lot of places where demons and deception can lurk, right? I can’t wait to see how this goes.
