On Big Brother 20, Tyler does damage control after Brett’s eviction. A showmance heats up. A new HoH puts two houseguests on the block.

During the double eviction on Big Brother, viewers weren’t privy to a lot of the conversations that went on between the HoH and veto competitions. That’s when all the strategizing took place at a breakneck pace. In this episode, we get to see what really went down during the commercial breaks.

In the DR, Tyler explains how he orchestrated the most epic blindside of the season. Poor Brett was stoked when Tyler won HoH, assuming Tyler would put up JC and Sam, and then they would backdoor Angela. Tyler acted as if he was completely on board.

Next, Tyler, Angela, and Kaycee solidified their plan to put Brett on the block. If you stay with the alliance, you have safety, but if you try to go rogue, you’re out (according to Angela).

More from CBS

Tyler had to make sure JC trusted him. JC was confident he wouldn’t go home, but he also told Tyler not to send Brett out the door. It’s the first time in the game, according to JC, that he had no idea what was actually going on.

Sam was more difficult to convince. Backed into a corner, she came in hot. Sam told Tyler all sorts of nasty things about Angela including Angela doesn’t think she has to do anything to stay in the house, “she’s a total bitch,” she’s been a Have-Not one time, she makes everyone uncomfortable and acts like she’s better than everyone else. Now we know exactly why Sam apologized to Angela during her speech.

Tyler insisted Sam needed to trust him, and even though she didn’t want to be on the block, she put her faith in Tyler. As long as anyone other than Brett won the veto, Tyler’s plan was good to go. Once Angela had the veto around her neck, she and Tyler agreed JC would come down. They even found time to plan out their little speeches.

The hammer came down on Brett — hard. Tyler told Brett he was the best player in the house, and Brett responded, “Apparently not.” Brett questioned what happened, but all Tyler would say is “Sorry, Brother.”

And the rest is Big Brother history.

After Brett’s eviction, Sam comes clean to Angela about calling her the “B-word.” Sam’s earlier pile-on Angela rant is forgotten. Sam redacts everything she said, convinced Angela has her back. The two hug it out, but Angela isn’t exactly the forgive-and-forget type.

Tyler has to try to smooth things over with Sam and JC because they can play in the HoH comp, and he can’t. He took a shot at them, and turnabout is fair play. Sam is a total pushover when it comes to Tyler. All he has to do is lie, saying Brett was coming after her, and all is forgiven.

JC respects the move, but he isn’t happy Tyler didn’t trust him enough to let him in on the plan. JC had no idea Tyler was working so closely with Kaycee and Angela. This is a bit dumbfounding, since JC has been very vocal about his displeasure regarding the Tyler-Angela showmance.

JC doesn’t believe for one minute Brett was trying to get him out, and he’s right. Tyler totally fabricated this piece of information. JC realizes the only person he can trust in the house is himself. JC feels betrayed and wonders what comes next. JC knows Kaycee and Angela will be targeting him. Tyler assures JC that Kaycee and Angela want Sam gone.

JC regrets trusting the wrong person, knowing his game is at risk. If JC can manage to win the HoH comp, he plans to put Tyler on the block as payback.

The Head of Household competition is called “BBFlix and Chill.” In each round, three movie posters appear on a screen (the titles all have Big Brother themes). The players hear a group of friends discuss which movie they want to watch. What they say provides clues to the one movie they all agree on. Some clues are misleading or apply to more than one movie.

When a player thinks they know the answer, they must press the corresponding button to lock in their answers. The fasted player to lock in the correct answer gets one point. The player with the most points after seven rounds becomes the new HoH.

This comp is Level 6 against Sam and JC. It’s definitely the only way Sam and JC can keep themselves off the block.

Kaycee’s winning streak comes to an end. She fails to earn even one point. JC doesn’t make much better of a showing. It really comes down to Sam and Angela. Angela emerges victorious with a total of three points (Sam comes up just short with two points).

Angela secures herself a spot in the Final Four, and Level Six continues to be unstoppable. JC and Sam are headed to the block. It’s just a matter of who will go home, and how Tyler will manage them moving forward.

Angela wants Sam out because everyone in the Jury House loves her. I don’t get it because the consensus throughout most of the game has been that Sam is crazy and a bit scary. It just shows how incredibly unlikable Angela is that Sam could beat her in the end. Sam has played a horrible game.

In a nauseating aside, Tyler and Angela declare their love for each other. In the DR, Angela reveals she hasn’t had a boyfriend in years (red flag, red flag). Truthfully, Tyler seems to be going with the flow. I don’t think this romance will survive long outside the house.

Angela may be “in love” with Tyler, but JC is a different story. JC is pissed about Brett’s eviction and tells Tyler it was a “huge mistake.” JC demands that if Tyler wins the Power of Veto, he needs to use it save him, and Angela will be forced to put Kaycee on the block.

Tyler keeps insisting JC has to trust him, but that line isn’t working anymore. JC has no doubt that if Brett were still in the house, he wouldn’t be going on the block. It’s getting more difficult for Tyler to convince JC he’s got his back. If JC doesn’t dial it down, he could become the target instead of Sam.

As a reward for making it to the Final Five, the houseguests are treated to a private concert by Bebe Rexha. I wonder what this singer had to trade to show up on a reality show. If she’s such a big star, why has she been banished to Big Brother?

The encore to the concert is the Nomination Ceremony. As expected, Angela puts JC and Sam on the block. Angela tells them she’s gotten so much blood on her hands, she doesn’t have a chance if she’s sitting beside either one of them in the end.
