Charmed trailer: Did anyone else notice that page in the Book of Shadows?
The Charmed reboot debuts next month and The CW is ramping up the promotion. In yesterday’s Charmed trailer it was hard to miss a possible connection to the original series.
While fans of the original series may have been against it, the Charmed reboot is happening. Debuting next month, the show will see three sisters join together to become the Charmed Ones. In yesterday’s Charmed trailer there was one shot that was extremely interesting. A page in the Book of Shadows suggests that the show is going to be directly connected to the original.
During the trailer, the pages of the Book of Shadows flip. They land on one for Melinda Warren, with a picture that looks very similar to the Melinda Warren we saw in the original Charmed series.
For those who are new to this world, Melinda Warren was the ancestor of the Charmed Ones. She held all three powers and visioned the coming of three sisters who would become the most powerful witches ever known. Each one would have one of her powers. Sure enough, that’s what happened and the Halliwell sisters had to bring Melinda Warren back from the dead at one point to deal with the warlock Matthew Tate, so fans for to meet her.
Now it looks like Melinda is going to be part of the Charmed reboot. This could be a direct copy, with Melinda being the ancestor of these three sister witches. While there are clearly other elements taken from the reboot and repurposed, it seems a little odd to reuse this element. After all, the three sisters are different. These aren’t Prue, Piper, and Phoebe Halliwell learning about their powers after the death of Penny “Grams” Halliwell.

So, it would suggest that landing on that page gives us a connection to the original series. In the first-ever Charmed trailer, Harry said that the sisters “are Charmed Ones.” He never said “The,” making many fans wonder whether there are multiple Charmed Ones out there. This page could be a connection to the Halliwell/Matthews Charmed Ones hinting that the theory is right.

If the Charmed reboot keeps Melinda Warren as these sisters’ ancestor, then there is still a connection to the original series. Could this be another line that formed from Melinda Warren’s line? Remember there were three cousins in the 1920s.
We knew what happened to Phoebe’s past life and Piper’s past life led to the Halliwells. What about Prue’s past life? Is this the line? Or there could be another from further down the tree.
While skeptical at first, I kept my mind open to wait for the trailers. They’ve made me excited for the Charmed reboot and I can’t wait to see what’s going on. I’ll be at New York Comic-Con in October and the Charmed panel is a must.
