Why do angels hate humans so much on Supernatural?

Angels aren’t the fluffy-winged, harp-playing beings we pictured on Supernatural. As we get into the new season, it’s time to question why they hate humans so much.

Angels on Supernatural are soldiers. This was clear from the first time Castiel was introduced on the show. They’re not the harp-playing beings we’ve always pictured and don’t adore humans and protect them in the way that many have viewed them to act. However, what is surprising is that most of them hate humans with a passion.

This is definitely the case in Supernatural Season 14. When Entertainment Weekly shared the first-look images of the season, there was a snippet about Michael’s plan. He wants a world without humans, which suggests he hates them just as much as Lucifer always did; just as much as so many other angels do.

What is it about humans that angels hate? They’ve always looked down on humans, viewing them as a “flawed” creation. They view themselves as superior and dislike God for forcing them to accept humans. Lucifer spoke out about it the most, but it appears that all angels have felt the same.

Why is that?

There are a few theories. My biggest theory is an element of jealousy. Sure, angels view humans as flawed and inferior, but they also know that humans are God’s favorite creation. God created angels before the humans. Then he created something that he felt was better, giving them free will to boot.

Think of this as being the elder sibling who had strict rules imposed. Then this younger sibling comes along and they’re allowed to get away with everything. It creates jealousy and hatred towards the younger sibling. It’s not the sibling’s fault, but that hatred is still aimed at them.

This is the way angels feel. God loved humans more, despite humans essentially being flawed due to their free will. Angels don’t like that and they’re jealous of the humans because of God’s love.

Oh, and angels are just d**ks, as Dean has always called them. They view themselves as the better creation and want to get rid of the flaws in what they think could be a perfect, better world.
