Charmed: Melonie Diaz discusses Mel Vera and what to expect in the reboot
Melonie Diaz sat down with us at NYCC 2018 to talk the Charmed reboot and what to expect from Mel Vera.
The Charmed reboot is almost here. This time Monday, the premiere will have aired on The CW so everyone in the States had a chance to see what this reboot would be like. Melonie Diaz plays Mel Vera on the series and discussed what to expect from her series including a few spoilery tidbits while at NYCC 2018.
During the interview, Melonie shared that Macy isn’t the only half-sister in the family. In fact, all three sisters are half-sisters. They have the same mom but all three have different dads, which isn’t something Mel and Maggie will know about at first. That’s certainly going to be an interesting twist, considering Mel and Maggie’s bond is so strong.

Melonie also discussed how her character will accept her powers. Surprisingly, she’s going to be the one that openly accepts her powers, which was something I actually expected more from Maggie. You can learn more about Melonie’s explanation for why Mel is so accepting in the interview below.
Along with finding out about a third sister and her powers, Melonie will also navigate the dating world as a lesbian. She’s (so far) the only known lesbian on the series and it was a major point in the marketing for Charmed. Melonie discusses how that part of the character has been written in, and it looks like the show is taking a direction that a lot of shows are now taking.
