Sarah Jeffrey took the time to talk about Maggie Vera in The CW’s Charmed reboot. What can you expect from the youngest witchy sister and how will she accept her powers?

Maggie Vera is the youngest of the three half-sisters (check out the interview with Melonie Diaz for details on this) and the one that is the bubbliest and carefree of all. That’s all going to change when she finds out she’s a witch. Sarah Jeffrey dished all during the Charmed interview at NYCC 2018.

Sarah shared just why she loves playing this character and the importance of bringing in the diverse casting right now. While she’s not a Latina herself, she does find it extremely important. Plus, she is a person of color often getting side-lined or playing a recurring character rather than taking on a prominent main role.

During the NYCC 2018 interview, Sarah shared more about what we can expect from Maggie in the Charmed reboot. Just how will she accept her powers, if she’ll accept them at all? While many of the original fans remember that Phoebe was the one to accept immediately, don’t expect that from this youngest sister.

Meanwhile, Maggie will also learn that she has a second sister. Macy comes into her life, but just how will she react to that? Is this going to be a woman she’ll welcome into the family or will she worry about how it affects the dynamic? The trailer gives us a few hints, but Sarah shared a little more.

While we’ve seen that Maggie is a telepath, Sarah also dishes a little more on Maggie’s other quality. This is something that came into the original series initially in Season 3 and then later in Season 6. Charmed is going to bring the power in sooner and it’s going to have the issues you would expect.

By the way, look out for my question about the use of the Melinda Warren page in the Book of Shadows. Just what does it mean for the connections to the original series?

There are plenty of naysayers about the Charmed reboot, but Sarah shares why she wanted to do this. She also shares her hopes that people will at least just give the first episode a chance. Don’t hate before you’ve watched is the general consensus from the cast.
