This week on Mom, Bonnie bites off more than she can chew when her old fellow foster-sister Tammy gets parole and moves into the Plunkett household.

Tammy (played by the hilarious Kristen Johnson) is back on Mom! If you need a refresher on what happened when we met her last season, check out that episode recap here.

After a routine visit to the woman’s prison where Tammy has been serving time, Bonnie finds out her former foster care sister was due to be released the following week. Bonnie, who was shocked to hear Tammy considers her a role model, on a whim suggests she forget about the halfway house and just move in with her.

Later, at the bistro, Christy, Marjorie, Wendy, and Jill are all in a rather feisty mood as they try to squeeze in a meal before a meeting. Bonnie, late as usual, comes running in with her exciting news. Much to everyone’s surprise, Christy is completely fine with Tammy moving in, as long as Bonnie takes full responsibility for her.

That following Wednesday, Bonnie picks up Tammy from prison and brings her back to the Plunkett household. Tammy, who is acting like she’s experiencing everything for the first time, is so happy to be there and just genuinely grateful all around. Later, at a meeting, Tammy expresses her fears of relapsing now that she’s out of prison, but really drives home how much Bonnie’s support means to her.

Soon enough, Bonnie discovers Tammy is a handful. She likes to stay up all night “talking, crying, laughing, then talking again,” Bonnie tells Adam. That following morning Bonnie is immediately bombarded with Tammy’s non-stop chattering. But, as Christy finds out on her way out the door to class, her parole officer is coming by for a surprise visit.

That night, Tammy has completely exhausted Bonnie and the latter tries to sneak out to go stay at Adam’s because he doesn’t want to live under parole restrictions. While Christy puts up a fight to make her stay, they are interrupted by Tammy’s screams from the living room. Turns out she was having a night terror, nearly slugging Bonnie square in the jaw in the process.

The following day Bonnie and Tammy go clothes shopping. Freaked out by all the choices, Tammy has a panic attack in the middle of the store. Bonnie begins to realize helping out her old foster-sister was going to be harder than she thought. And later at the bistro, Bonnie reveals her plan to the other woman on how she’s gonna get rid of Tammy.

The following day, Tammy catches Bonnie hiding in the laundry room. While dancing around the subject that her guest should move into a halfway house, Bonnie is surprised to discover Tammy can fix washing machines and knows how to do other building maintenance as well. Devising a plan that could be mutually beneficial, Bonnie manages to get Tammy to do all the building maintenance she is supposed to be doing for her job.

That night, Tammy has another one of her night terrors and Christy nudges Bonnie to go take care of it. Grabbing the water gun next to the bed, Bonnie heads out to wake up Tammy. But, as we hear, things do not go well. And Christy, after yelling that she’d be right there to help her mom, closes the bedroom door and goes to bed.

What did you guys think of this week’s episode? Bonnie has really shown some redeeming qualities recently, maybe she really is turning a new leaf. Christy’s reaction to the whole Tammy situation was very surprising too. Wendy gave some sick burns at the bistro, didn’t she?
