It’s more than Driving Miss Daisy on this week’s Bob’s Burgers when Bob gets involved with his nemesis and the kids attend a lavish party.

This week’s Bob’s Burgers is a crash course for all the Belchers. With Bob teaming up with an unlikely foe and the kids going to a unique party, there’s no telling what could happen. Will “Bobby Driver” end up being a smooth ride or will it crash and burn? Be sure to keep your hands on the wheel and let’s go.

If you haven’t watched this week’s episode of Bob’s Burgers, there will be spoilers for “Bobby Driver” from this point on.

The episode begins with the kids picking out a toy for their friend, Colton. Once they get to the party, it’s themed after The Great Gatsby. Colton isn’t having fun and Louise is down to prove he doesn’t deserve his presents. She comes up with a plan to put Gene’s socks in place of his present and starts to before Colton catches her.

Colton explains the party only happened because his parents wanted it to be on social media. Before he opens his presents, they ask for another picture and all of the kids pick their noses in an act of protest. The Belcher kids explain how unhappy he is so Colton’s parents eventually give up and decide to let them have fun without posting anything else.

On the way from the party, Bob runs into Edith and agrees to give her a ride. He accidentally becomes her getaway driver and she explains it’s because her quilting group rejected her design. They drive all over town where Edith steals almost all of the quilting squares until they get to the retirement home and Sergeant Bosco’s mother Lillian threatens them.

Bob finds out that Edith tricked him to get revenge, but decides to help after he finds out how much it means to her. Sergeant Bosco and Lillian follow them to the Wharf Arts Center and try to stop them. Bob makes the case for Edith’s square and the club votes to include it. The episode ends with Bosco pretending to arrest them to make his mother happy.

There’s also a third plotline where Linda helps Teddy get ready for his date. It really didn’t add much to the episode so I didn’t include it in my plot summary. That being said, let’s get into what I thought of the episode.

Sadly, this week’s episode was a complete miss for me. Personally, I didn’t think the plot-lines worked together. The episode should have had a larger focus on the one instead of trying to give them equal attention. Between the two plot lines, the Bob-Edith one was stronger and should have been focused on more.

The plotline with the kids just needed to be more fleshed out. This episode just suffered from having too much going on. On the whole, it made the episode seem sloppy and not flow cohesively. For the past few weeks, the show has been balancing them but this was a rare miss.

Overall, “Bobby Driver” was a disappointment for me. If the show would have shifted the focus, it could have worked. Sadly, the episode fell flat for me but it’s only one week after multiple weeks of greatness. “Bobby Driver” had a lot of potential but nothing seemed to work. Next week is the show’s annual Thanksgiving episode so that’s something to look forward to.
